Treyarch Studios has announced that two of the more controversial killstreaks in Call of Duty: Warzone 2, Cluster Mine and Bomb Drone, have both been restricted in ranked play based on player feedback. Killstreaks are essential aspects of Warzone 2, giving players a fair advantage if they get three or more kills without dying. There are restrictions in Warzone 2 ranked play, which have now been updated to include two additional streaks that players think are overpowered.Warzone 2 introduced players to a tier-based ranked mode in Season 3 Reloaded, which uses a similar ranking system to that of Apex Legends and Modern Warfare 2. It requires players to earn skill ratings to climb up the seven standard divisions. At the end of the season, all players are knocked back to the lowest tier-one division below where they ended. In addition to seasonal ranked rewards, players can complete challenges to earn unique items, including pro-issue weapon prints and weapon charms.RELATED: Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ Exploit Gives Players Free Contraband WeaponsTreyarch Studios announced on Twitter that the Cluster Mine and Bomb Drone killstreaks have both restricted in ranked play. They won't drop as loot anymore, and Cluster Mine has been replaced by Revive Pistol at buy stations. Killstreaks were available in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 with the games' initial launches, and they have become a key part of the gameplay. Treyarch Studios broke a long-running killstreak trend in Warzone 2, making it possible for players to equip up to three of them, while they could only equip two killstreaks in previous Call of Duty games. The reaction from players to this change was overwhelmingly positive, with some claiming that Treyarch has been doing a good job of favoring all play styles.

Killstreaks in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 appear to work much better with balance changes. Some people have praised Treyarch Studios for the speed at which these changes are implemented based on player feedback. For now, the Cluster Mine and Bomb Drone, two of the more disliked killstreaks in the game, won't be available to use in ranked play, though probably only temporarily.
