A Call of Duty: Warzone 2 player showcased their ingenuity and quick thinking by making their way back to the safe zone from deep in the gas cloud. The Warzone 2 player manages to just barely make it out, and uses some pretty unexpected methods to stay alive.

In the extremely popular Call of Duty battle royale, the gas cloud expands as the safe zone circle gradually collapses, funneling players together into an increasingly smaller and smaller zone. Players can find gas masks in Warzone 2, but the masks typically only allow players to survive in the gas for a short amount of time. In order to win the match, players are forced to dodge the ever-increasing gas and congregate in the safe zone. Some players don't make it, of course. Either enemies pin them down with suppressing fire in the gas, preventing them from escaping, or they get trapped too far away from the safe zone for one reason or another.

In a clip posted to the Warzone 2 subreddit, player TomahawkKevin shows off some incredibly quick thinking to escape from certain death in the gas. They start off on the edge of the rapidly collapsing safe zone and don their mask as they duck into the gas cloud. After several seconds of sprinting through hallways, TomahawkKevin reaches a rooftop helicopter pad and enters the heavy chopper. Their gas mask protection disappears as they lift off into the green-tinged sky, flying full tilt toward the safe zone—showing the capabilities of helicopters in Warzone 2. As they're flying toward safety, they collapse into a downed state inside the heavy chopper, but manage to self-revive. Then they abandon ship, gliding toward the safe zone at breakneck speeds. Right before their health gives out, they hit the edge of the safe zone and deploy their parachute, landing safely.

This video is absolutely filled to the brim with tension. TomahawkKevin barely manages to make it to each next step of their escape, and the ingenuity of taking the exact steps needed to make a spectacular escape shows off some impressive game knowledge. While it might have been easier, and simpler, to just try and sprint ahead of the gas cloud ring, the helicopter flight and parachute glide definitely make for a more cinematic experience. It's also much more exciting than using an overpowered gas mask to survive.

This is the kind of crazy, nail-biting experience that makes for great viewing online and helps keep players coming back to the game over and over again. While not everyone will enjoy the tension created by the safe zone collapse in Warzone 2, having such diverse ways to make it to the safe zone is great for battle royale fans - so long as a gas mask bug doesn't lose them the match, of course.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
