During the late 2000s and early 2010s, the Call of Duty franchise had an immovable grip on the entire gaming industry. Whether gamers were fans of first-person shooters or not, they'll have played a Call of Duty from this era, from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare up to about Black Ops 2. Naturally, a lot of the maps from this era of Call of Duty have become beloved classics, and every so often, the modern entries will add one or two classic maps to appease fans. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 turns this up to 11, integrating seven classic Call of Duty maps into its larger Al Mazrah location.

Taking the groundwork laid by Verdansk and Caldera, Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0's Al Mazrah offers a gigantic map filled with a ton of varied points of interest. From a modern day city and a hydroelectric plant to a bustling port and an old fortress, Al Mazrah has a lot of unique locations for fans to discover. But some of these locations may seem a little familiar to fans, striking a remarkable resemblance to some classic Call of Duty maps.

Warzone 2 Observatory Points of Interest

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has a handful of very obvious classic map integrations. One of the most obvious of these is Quarry. Originally a map from 2009's Modern Warfare 2, Quarry can be found in the top left section of Al Mazrah's map, right under the heading of the same name. Quarry is essentially unchanged from its original iteration, with the administrator's office still at the top overlooking the pathways below, and acting as the perfect vantage spot.

Another prominent classic map integration is Highrise, another original Modern Warfare 2 classic. Located in Al Mazrah City, Highrise can be found bridging two large skyscrapers. When dropping in, fans will immediately spot the iconic layout, with its central helipad actually containing a flyable helicopter. The side skyscrapers can also be explored, with office layouts in each that will look very familiar to long-time fans. These buildings have also been scaled up quite significantly, allowing players to scale the building via stairs or an ascension rope now.

If players drop at Al Mazrah's Airport, they should be able to instantly recognize the layout of Modern Warfare 2's Terminal map. While the planes have left the tarmac, players can still use the jet bridges to hide in. Players will also recognize the general L-shape of the airport, with its escalators on one side, and its long stretch of stores branching from it. There's a lot more to Terminal in Warzone 2.0 than meets the eye, however, with a bunch of surrounding buildings and multiple levels that could potentially confuse long-time Call of Duty fans.

One of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0's most prominent points of interest is its Observatory, located at the top of a mountain that towers above the rest of the map. Viewable from all angles, Observatory is actually home to another classic Call of Duty map, this time being Dome from Modern Warfare 3. Immediately recognizable from its golf ball-like centerpiece, players can run around Dome's iconic building, which is now surrounded by a variety of warehouses and large, climbable towers.

Al Marzrah is also home to a map from the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Originally titled Showdown, this map can be found in Ahkdar Village, though it looks a little different now. While the iconic central statue is still in place, its design has been changed, as have the surrounding buildings, being made much more open and expansive than before. Players should also be able to find the infamous containers of Shipment sitting on a ship in Al Mazrah's Port. Rust can also be found in Al Mazrah, though it only features the central structure. Modern Warfare 2's Afghan has also been repurposed here for the Sattiq Caves, though quite a bit has been changed. A map from the very first Call of Duty, Neuville, has also been remade for Warzone 2.0, though it mainly takes after the remake from Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer mode.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
