One player of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 got a bit more than they bargained for when sweeping a house for enemies in a recent round, falling prey to an unexpectedly lethal surprise lurking behind a bathroom door. Many fans of the Infinity Ward and Raven Software shooter were excited earlier this month when a leak purported to confirm that Modern Warfare 3 is releasing in 2023 and will feature a new Warzone map after launch.

Released in late 2022, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 experienced a tumultuous launch due to a combination of serious technical bugs and a fanbase that questioned the need for a sequel only two years after the release of the original Call of Duty: Warzone. The game received a mixed reception from players upon release, with many of the most controversial gameplay changes, such as the switch to a 2v2 format for the Gulag, eventually being rolled back or removed outright with subsequent patches. As part of ongoing improvements to the Battle Royale title, the recent Season 3 update added a Ranked play mode to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 that was created with help from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer Treyarch.

In a new post on r/CODWarzone, Redditor billy7200 shared a hilarious Call of Duty: Warzone 2 clip of a player meeting an unexpected end when sweeping a house for enemies in the closing minutes of a recent round. Filmed from a spectator camera, the clip shows a player frantically working to secure a house as the circle closes in on them towards the end of the match. Seemingly doing everything right, the player takes time to armor up and mine the entry points before realizing they forgot to check one room. As they open the door to the bathroom in the beaten-down house they’re greeted by an opposing squad perched on a toilet before being mowed down in a hail of gunfire.

Fans of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 responding to the short clip seemed to agree with the sentiment billy7200 expressed in the title of the post, “Sometimes you just have to laugh.” Replies to the post were filled with Redditors amused by the sneaky, lethal antics of what one response dubbed the “bathroom campers.” Several responses said that they expected there to be someone hiding behind the unopened door but never anticipated that there would be an entire squad silently biding their time in the bathroom. Another Redditor complimented the sneaky squad on keeping their composure throughout the clip, remarking “Bro, the amount of discipline that squad had!”

This clip is a great example of how even the most carefully prepared players can sometimes find themselves on the wrong end of an enemy rifle in Infinity Ward’s free-to-play shooter. And while being ambushed by a group of players camping in the commode isn’t the most heroic way to die, at least it beats being taken out by a cheater using The Force in Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
