As calls from some players for developers Raven Software and Infinity Ward to add a nighttime mode to Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map continue to be met with silence, one creative player took it upon themselves to create a screenshot of what the level could look like when the sun goes down. Although a recent survey sent to players hints at the possibility of classic maps like Verdansk returning to Warzone 2, there has been no official talk of adding a nighttime variant of Al Mazrah to the game.

Released in late 2022, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 takes the battle royale formula of its predecessor and adds a slew of new features as well as the all-new DMZ mode. Although technical hiccups and some contentious gameplay changes soured some gamers on the title, Warzone 2 has received a generally positive reception overall. Infinity Ward and Raven Software have released numerous updates to the game since launch meant to address some of the biggest player complaints and recently announced that 1v1 Gulags are coming to Warzone 2 after player outcry over the shift to a 2v2 format for the sequel.

While there is no official word yet about adding a nighttime version of Al Mazrah to the battle royale title, that didn’t stop Reddit user EMADALDEN221 from coming up with their own tantalizing version of what a twilight version of Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map could look like. In a new post on the r/CODWarzone subreddit, they shared their impressive concept of how the war-torn port town would look at night, receiving a great response from Warzone 2 fans. Showing the city lit only by the moon and the soft glow emanating from windows, the concept image makes the map look more dangerous than ever.

Fans of Warzone 2 responding to the post loved EMADALDEN221’s take on a nighttime version of Al Mazrah, though many expressed doubt that such a map would ever be added to the game. Referencing Infinity Ward’s tendency to remove popular maps and modes from their Call of Duty titles, one commenter quipped “It will probably be part of a two day limited time event never to return.” Other users wanted to see not only day and night cycles added to Warzone 2, but also dynamic weather effects.

This fantastic fan-made concept image shows just how exciting it could be to explore a darkened Al Mazrah. And while it’s unlikely that a moonlit version of the map will show up in the free-to-play shooter any time soon, at least players will soon be able to explore a new Warzone 2 map in the Season 2 update.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
