Call of Duty: Warzone has finally been announced, with Activision releasing an action-packed Warzone trailer that confirms its March 10 release date and more. Some additional details about the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale have since been made available, confirming things like how respawning will work in the battle royale mode.

As explained by Activision, there are multiple ways that Call of Duty: Warzone players can respawn in the game. After being eliminated in battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone players are transported to the Gulag, which is similar to the Gulag Gunfight map. While here, they have to fight another dead player in a 1v1 match, with the winner getting the chance to rejoin the action in the battle royale match.

Another way that Call of Duty: Warzone players can rejoin the fight is by purchasing Self-Revive Kits. Self-Revive Kits will be available to purchase using in-game cash that players will earn in both the standard battle royale mode and the Plunder mode. Players can also buy Squad Buyback revive tokens at the Buy Stations that are found throughout the Warzone map, which can be used to bring back dead teammates.

Other battle royale games have used respawn systems, but Call of Duty: Warzone is definitely thinking outside the box. The 1v1 Gulag idea seems like a great way to incorporate the fan favorite gameplay of Gunfight into the battle royale setting as well, which should help Warzone still feel a genuine extension of the Modern Warfare experience. On paper, it sounds like a great idea, and luckily fans don't have to wait long to find out if it's good in practice as well.

The Call of Duty: Warzone release date is March 10, with Modern Warfare players able to access the game beginning at 8am PT. Everyone else will be able to download for free at 12pm PT, so just a few hours after it goes live for Modern Warfare owners. Barring any unforeseen technical issues, Call of Duty fans will have a good idea if the Warzone battle royale game lives up to the hype once it goes live on March 10.

Call of Duty: Warzone launches on March 10 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
