After a brief window of optimism, the Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies community is back to being disappointed. Sadly, the latest issue is making the mode impossible to play, as severe visual glitches are impacting Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies players on every platform.

Treyarch’s 115 Day post had Zombies fans more optimistic than they had been in a long time, but it is quickly starting to seem like those high hopes have faded away once again. Not only did the round-based objective turn out to be a disappointment, as players only fight through the main hut on Shi No Numa, but more issues have been making regular gameplay difficult. In particular, visual glitches are appearing in Der Anfang, ruining the aesthetic of the map and making it difficult for players to see where they are going.

In a clip shared by Reddit user SecretlyHiddenSelf, the sky above the Stalingrad hub area is shown completely bugging out. Pointy textures can be seen growing larger and fading away, with the map’s skybox becoming completely unrecognizable due to all the jagged edges. Unfortunately, this is a bug Call of Duty: Warzone fans are more than a bit familiar with. Dubbed the demon texture bug, the broken textures have impacted everything from weapons and character models to entire buildings.

Recently, the demon texture glitch came to Call of Duty: Vanguard, and now it has become clear that the Zombies community is not safe from the problem. Fortunately, the frustrated Zombies community does seem to have a workaround to make the mode playable again for some gamers. In the comments of the clip, madmanjp007 confirms that PC users can revert their Nvidia drivers back to 497.29. This will apparently stop the bug, which got so bad for madmanjp007 that “doorways would glitch out” and they would be unable to explore the map.

Unfortunately, it seems like console players are out of luck for the time being, as this workaround only works on PC. According to GilliganMcFinnigan in the comments, “something similar” is happening to Xbox players. Their experience with the texture bug saw the map’s floor completely disappearing, essentially making it the reverse of what was seen in the clip. With a buggy sky making it difficult enough to see, it is hard to imagine being able to play a game without any ground to walk on. Considering that the player was only able to see buildings, it seems like the bug is severe no matter what form it takes.

Hopefully, the issue will be fixed sooner rather than later. With Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2 delayed so that bug fixes can be prioritized, many players will surely be hoping that this will be one of the issues that is fixed.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
