Call of Duty continues to be the crown jewel of Activision's crown through annual releases and the ever evolving nature of the popular battle royale, Warzone. In fact, Call of Duty Vanguard, as well as Warzone, were a big reason why Activision managed to earn over $5.1 billion just through DLC and microtransactions. As a live service title, these constant updates as well as bundles within the in-game store managed to keep players coming back time after time.

In addition, seasonal updates are another major factor in why Call of Duty: Vanguard continues to be popular, even in the wake of controversies like the misconduct allegations with Activision as well as the constant bugs and glitches impacting online experiences like Warzone. With season 1 coming to an end next week, Activision has outlined plans for Season 2, which bring new maps, weapons, and content to the shooter. In fact, the game is also planning to celebrate Valentine's Day in only the way Call of Duty could.

As part of the Season 2 update post, Activision revealed a special launch day event for February 14. While the blurb itself was a bit light on details, it will be a Valentine's Day themed experience, likely a limited time mode for Call of Duty Vanguard, that also has some Double XP opportunities tied in. In addition, Activision confirmed "thematic changes" though the blog post did not elaborate further, only hinting at something or someone called the King of Hearts.

The small detail was also accompanied by a screenshot of a pink teddy bear dressed for war, clearly a unique operator skin to celebrate the February holiday. The bear with a red heart nose appears to be angry, equipped with a flamethrower, extra bandoliers in an 'X' shape across its chest, with a black headband tied across its forehead. Again, the post didn't specifically indicate which of the many Call of Duty Vanguard operators would be getting this unique skin.

Outside of the Valentine's Day reveal, the Season 2 blog post features a ton of new information on the changes coming to both Warzone, Vanguard, as well as Zombies, which is getting a special Hub map in Season 2. Warzone players are getting a new Chemical Factory location to explore, as well as the bomber plane vehicle and redeploy balloons similar to what Apex Legends and Fortnite do in their games. Multiplayer is also seeing two new core maps added as well as new killstreaks, perks, and grenades.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
