Despite the disappointment that Call of Duty: Vanguard has proven to be, there are glimmers of hope across the Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. While the negative reception for Call of Duty: Vanguard seems to mainly be focused on its Zombies mode, the Multiplayer has received a fair amount of flak as well.

Call of Duty over the years has provided some best years in gaming, but it was inevitable that some entries into the series would fail to impress audiences. The Arms Race mode, however, has been received positively, as has Sledgehammer Games' attempts to introduce new modes and features into the Multiplayer. For those looking to play the better-reviewed Arms Race mode, here are a few key tips.

7 Communicate With The Team

Despite how a lot of players may choose to play the game, Call of Duty: Vanguard's Arms Race mode is best played with a team that are communicating with each other. In fact, because a lot of players in Public Matches don't communicate and coordinate with teammates, the teams that do will be at an instant advantage. Team communication works to make teams better on any multiplayer shooter game.

Party chat with teammates is often the better option because of greater connection, which strengthens the quality of the users' voice input. Players who aren't already in a squad should look to join Game Voice Chat and hope they come across a team that also wants to communicate.

6 Use The Bike For Fast Traversal

Players get their first glimpse of Kong and Godzilla's invasion of Caldera in Call of Duty: Warzone.

The Call of Duty: Vanguard Arms Race maps are huge, which reflects a recent change to Call of Duty titles of featuring much larger maps, akin to those that players would find on Battlefield. These huge maps on the Arms Race mode can prove time-consuming to traverse, and a waste of time if players spend ages navigating only to be shot dead by a sniper as soon as they reach the objective.

Luckily, there are plenty of vehicles about. Players should use the bikes and other vehicle types they find around the maps to travel fast to an objective and get back into the fight more quickly. Vanguard is hardly going to be considered an FPS game that changed the genre any time soon, but it's cool that it features vehicles that players can use in-between firefights.

5 Consider Bullet Drop

While most of the regular-sized maps on the Call of Duty: Vanguard Multiplayer are small, players should keep in mind that bullet drop does exist in the game, and is very present in the Arms Race maps due to their size. Bullet drop and more technical detailed features can be found on all the best tactical shooters, and Vanguard's bullet drop is consistent while offering a good balance of playability vs realism.

Weapons will have different recoils, bullet drop, and velocity stats which will affect gun fights, especially on the Arms Race mode. Players should spend a bit of time practicing with their weapons, checking their stats, and comparing them against to other weapons of a similar class to assess which loadouts they should be using when playing in the Arms Race.

4 Attack Bases With Coordination

While there are many ways to attack the bases on Call of Duty: Vanguard's Arms Race mode, it is important that a team coordinates their attack and attempts taking over different bases in a tactical way. As there are fewer and fewer bases throughout the game, it becomes easier for a team to protect them as all players can commit to the same base. The tactical gameplay present in Arms Race was influenced by Vanguard's Classified Arms Update.

Because of the nature of the Arms Race mode, the game gets increasingly difficult for the attacking team the longer it goes on. This is why players should make sure they are coordinating, which means waiting for teammates to get into position before attacking and prioritizing harder-to-claim bases. Players that prefer to take the lone wolf route may look to distract the enemy team by taking on other bases, allowing the rest of the team to continue taking the primary base they were going after.

3 Use Grenades When Out Of Demolition Equipment

Players can buy demolition equipment, such as satchel charges that can be used to blow up objectives and enemies along with them. However, since the Arms Race relies on players purchasing weapons, ammo, and explosives from the Stores, some teams may not have enough money to buy satchel charges and the like. It's a pro Call of Duty Vanguard tip for players to keep stock of all the equipment and weapons available to them, either on the loadout or on the battlefield.

In this situation, players should look to use their grenades as these also work to blow up objectives and gates or other barricades that protect the base surrounding objectives.

2 Dump Money Into Stores If Round Loss Is Unpreventable

Sometimes in the Arms Race, a team will not be able to prevent a Round Loss even if they are communicating and trying their best. In these situations, it is important to dump as much money as possible into the Store. This helps to ensure that the team can start off the next round with as much high-quality equipment as possible.

A team will lose money if they lose a round, which is why it's important to put that money to good use for the best chance of success in the next round.

1 Buy Loadouts Quick

Call of Duty is getting Godzilla and Kong skins as part of the Operation Monarch event.

While the Call of Duty: Vanguard Arms Race mode may have a slower overall pace than that of the regular modes, there is still a need for players to act swiftly and aim to get ahead by being quick with preparation. Fast pacing is present in all World War II games, not just Vanguard, so players shouldn't be surprised that they have to be quick to have the best chance of succeeding.

Players should look to find a few different loadouts they like to use the most (depending on the situation) and then buy the loadout from the Store at the start of a new round as quickly as they can. Acting swiftly like this can allow a team to get the drop on the enemy team and have the best chances of success.
