As is always the case with a new Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: Vanguard has a few overpowered weapons for players to choose from. None are as unfair as the shotguns, though, something that has made Call of Duty: Vanguard harder to enjoy.

While there are a few powerful shotguns available in the game, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Combat Shotgun is particularly broken. The weapon has a large magazine, absurd range, and one-shot kill potential. Even worse, its bullet spread means that anyone on the screen of someone using the weapon will die, even if the Combat Shotgun user is not aiming directly at them. This has made gameplay on small maps like Das Haus extremely frustrating, with players at a disadvantage if they are not using the weapon.

The Combat Shotgun’s brokenness became clear in a Call of Duty: Vanguard clip from Twitter user @Zexafy. While some ridiculous streaks have been achieved with the weapon, this player managed to get a V2 Rocket with only the Combat Shotgun. In the clip, they can be seen switching between shotguns and running through the enemy spawn uncontested, killing everything that steps in their path. However, what is particularly shocking about this V2 Rocket is that it was done in 33.3 seconds, a ridiculously low amount of time. Like the post title claims, that is likely the fastest V2 Rocket ever achieved in the game, and Sledgehammer Games has taken notice.

Call of Duty: Vanguard players who have no problem using broken weapons will want to make use of the Combat Shotgun while they can, as Sledgehammer quoted the 33.3 second V2 Rocket gameplay with a promise to nerf the weapon. While no ETA was mentioned, but the “shotgun exorcism” should happen relatively soon, with the start of Season 1 being the latest it would be changed. While no details have been provided on what parts of the weapon will be nerfed, either, fans can expect the nerf to be extensive given the absurd power of the shotgun.

This is great news for those that are tired of the Call of Duty: Vanguard weapon, though it will be interesting to see if any other shotguns get an adjustment. The dual wield Double Barrel has proven to be just as broken, with the weapon only being seen less because the crucial attachment takes so long to unlock. As such, if that weapon goes unchanged, it will likely step right into the spot that is currently inhabited by the Combat Shotgun.

Regardless, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s next update should be an exciting one for fans of small maps. Soon, the Combat Shotgun should not be overpowered, something that should make the game easier to play.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
