The PlayStation Store has just updated early and seemingly confirmed the reveal date of the rumored Call of Duty: Vanguard. Although the best-selling action franchise's latest release is some time away, its announcement is arriving much sooner than expected.

As predicted by many trusted sources, Call of Duty: Vanguard will take players back to World War 2 and is currently being developed by Sledgehammer Games. The title will reportedly feature a campaign, multiplayer, and zombie-killing modes that span across the European and Pacific theatres of war, with its plot centering around the birth of the allied Special Forces. As some ears-to-the-ground gamers may already know, these aren't the only details that were leaked recently.

Over on Twitter, the news went viral after it was let out by insider CharlieIntel, an unofficial Call of Duty account known among the community for leaking information and breaking news regarding the franchise. Based on information supplied in the images, the supposed reveal date of Call of Duty: Vanguard is August 19. This is then followed by multiple screenshots that depict the PlayStation Store mistakenly listing Vanguard under the latest "What's hot" category.

What is interesting about August 19 is that this is also the same day that the PlayStation State of Play is rumored to be taking place, a digital event that showcases the latest PlayStation news, updates, reveals, and announcements. It is possible that PlayStation has marketing rights to Call of Duty: Vanguard and may wish to break the news of the installment itself during its rumored State of Play event, assuming one takes place at all, that is.

This would also mean the console may also have some additional exclusives tied with the game. Albeit, this would be expected as the platform partnership between Activision and Sony has been unanimous with the Call of Duty franchise now for several years.

Furthermore, these details come as some key artwork for Call of Duty: Vanguard was leaked onto social media. The art features a wide range of guns for players to take charge of, from bolt-action sniper rifles to heavy assault rifles and even light submachine guns, it would be safe to say that the title will certainly not lack iconic World War 2 weaponry.

With that said, it would be best to take these leaks with a hint of suspicion. Although they are coming from trusted sources, there has been no official statement from Sledgehammer Games or Activision, with the latter of the two involved in a gender discrimination lawsuit.
