While a very clear Call of Duty: Vanguard meta has established itself in the week and a half since release, it will only be a matter of time before it changes. Call of Duty: Vanguard’s shotguns are being nerfed, and other overly strong weapons like the StG 44 and MP-40 are likely next in line for some adjustments. As such, some less popular weapons could end up getting more use.

When it comes to the SMGs in Call of Duty: Vanguard, players are likely going to gravitate toward the Type 100 and M1928, as they are easily the second and third best options that players currently have. However, for those that like to play close quarters maps like Das Haus, it will be tough to top the fire rate provided by the iconic PPSh-41 SMG. While it will need certain attachments to be viable, it may be worth the effort.

Those with experience playing Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: World War 2 will surely be expecting the PPSh-41 to be a powerhouse, as it was dominant in the other Call of Duty games that cover the same time period. It was strong in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, too, building up a solid legacy for multiplayer fans. With the SMG even deadly in the Zombies modes it has appeared in, it is no surprise that it has such a loyal fan base.

Unfortunately, PPSh-41 lovers may be a bit let down with the latest version of the gun. While it is not an awful weapon, it is not nearly as deadly as other iterations, with this version of the gun having extreme recoil that the others did not. While this may make it a bit more accurate to the real-world version of the PPSh-41, players will have to push through the first several levels to get some attachments. Until they get the gun’s rank into the double digits, they should avoid engaging from a distance at all costs, as the weapon’s kick is devastating.

The Best Gunsmith Attachments For Call of Duty: Vanguard’s PPSh-41

Once Call of Duty: Vanguard players have leveled up the PPSh-41, they should be able to deal with its recoil through some attachments - allowing the weapon to truly shine. For players who want to keep their weapon silenced, the Mercury Silencer is a good muzzle choice, with the F8 Stabilizer being the move for those who prefer to go loud. The ZAC 300MM barrel is a must-have, as it boosts range and accuracy - two things that the weapon desperately needs.

Unfortunately, the final magazine is the superior option for the PPSh, which means players will have to spend some time leveling the weapon up. The .30 Russian Short 35 Round Mags are worth the effort, though, as they provide more damage and range for the weapon. From there, players should use Call of Duty: Vanguard’s gunsmith to address accuracy. The Polymer Grip rear grip, Empress Custom stock, and M1941 Handstop will all help in these areas.

As always, the Lengthened ammo type is a fine choice due to its boost for bullet velocity. Tight Grip is a solid choice for proficiency, while the Fully Loaded kit will help balance out the small 35 round magazines. When it comes to optics, the default iron sights for the PPSh-41 are solid, meaning that players can leave them as is. With this setup, gamers should perform better in their Call of Duty: Vanguard matches, making the most out of an average weapon.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
