Call of Duty: Vanguard players who were hoping for a long camo grind are in luck this year, as some of the challenges are going to take a lot of effort to complete. In fact, some Call of Duty: Vanguard fans feel like one in particular is a bit too difficult.

One thing worth keeping in mind about camo challenges in Call of Duty is the fact that players have to unlock the objectives by leveling up their guns. As such, the first step of the process will see players needing to use each weapon often, doing their best to work on whatever challenges they can as they go. With this year's Gunsmith being so in-depth, this could take a while – though it is far from the hardest part of the process.

Call of Duty YouTuber and content creator JGOD pointed out one particularly frustrating challenge, which asks players to get 100 point blank kills. This was difficult in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War due to how close players had to get for a point blank medal to register, though with enough patience, it would get done. While asking players to get 25 more point blank kills than they did previously is fine, the issue is which weapons this needs to be done for.

As shown by JGOD, Call of Duty: Vanguard players are expected to get 100 point blank kills with Sniper Rifles, which should immediately raise some red flags. Obviously, this challenge defeats the purpose of sniping, as players are forced to use a long-range weapon up close. Even when quick scoping, gamers are unlikely to be in point blank range, meaning that the only time point blank kills will be doable is if they sneak up directly behind an enemy. Doing this 100 times is a chore, and the process could see players dealing with an unfun challenge for dozens of hours.

With this needing to be done for all of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Snipers, it is hardly a surprise that more people are shocked by this challenge. Pro player FaZe Booya also chimed in on this task, calling out Sledgehammer Games for the decision. With 100 longshot kills likely to take a long time as well, players are in for quite the grind if changes are not made to these challenges. On the bright side, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s launcher challenges are much easier than Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s, as the double kill requirements have been removed.

It will be interesting to see if Sledgehammer Games adjusts the point-blank challenges based on this community feedback. Clearly, the Call of Duty: Vanguard fan base does not believe that this is a fair challenge.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
