Call of Duty: Vanguard fans currently have a lot to be excited about. However, while Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 1 is right around the corner, shotguns are being nerfed, and League play is in the works, some fans are concerned about the game’s blueprint system.

For the most part, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s blueprints are similar to those in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. As such, they give players a unique weapon skin and a full set of attachments, though they provide new exclusive benefits - except for one particular blueprint. For whatever reason, Call of Duty: Vanguard fans have found that the Debt Collector variant of the StG 44 Assault Rifle has an attachment that cannot be accessed normally.

While this would have caused controversy no matter what, the fact that it is for Call of Duty: Vanguard’s StG 44 Assault Rifle is only adding to the uproar. Since launch, the StG 44 has been the strongest weapon by far, killing anyone that steps into its path with ease. As such, Redditor SappHaze’s discovery that only those with the Debt Collector blueprint can get Steady Aim is a big deal, as the attachment adds exclusive benefits to the most overpowered weapon available. Once players have it equipped, they can leave Steady Aim on and adjust the other attachments however they see fit.

While the good news is that Steady Aim is not the strongest proficiency in the world, as it only provides a reduced movement penalty and more accuracy when suppressed, Call of Duty: Vanguard fans like iDomBMX are more worried about what this could mean for the future. After all, if one blueprint has an exclusive attachment, it is only a matter of time before other weapon blueprints provide a more significant in-game advantage. With the situation having the potential to become like Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s star cards, the concern is understandable.

Fortunately, kingofnothinatall makes the good point that this could simply be a slip-up on the part of Sledgehammer Games. For a brief time, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s MAC-10 was viewed as pay-to-win, as a blueprint version of the gun came with entirely different recoil. Soon after it was added, Treyarch revealed that this was completely accidental, fixing the MAC-10 blueprint and making sure that the same thing did not happen with any others.

As such, fans may want to let Sledgehammer know about the Debt Collector StG 44, with the developer hopefully fixing it in a future Call of Duty: Vanguard update. With over a dozen blueprints in the game and none of the others having this issue, there is still hope that this will not be the norm.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
