Call of Duty: Vanguard players are calling for the game's developers to immediately address network problems plaguing gameplay. These include packet burst issues, with claims that the recent disruptions have been making Call of Duty: Vanguard unplayable.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is developed by Sledgehammer Games and was published by Activision in November last year. Most gamers will need little introduction to the series, which has been a major force in the gaming world for almost twenty years. However, Call of Duty: Vanguard has not enjoyed the critical acclaim that some of the other Call of Duty games have, receiving mixed reviews from critics and players alike.

Call of Duty: Vanguard players are calling for developers to step in and address the problems, with reports of packet bursts, lag, and generally poor network performance. Reports by Reddit users like Psychological_Fun929 have claimed that the network issues are leading to unfair disadvantages, lost games, and an increase in spawn killing. Network issues, such as packet bursts, can cause stuttering and lag in multiplayer games. For competitive shooting games where reaction time is important, any extra delays in packet delivery can cause major disadvantages to players.

This is not the first time Call of Duty: Vanguard has been the subject of demands by players, who have cited issues with the game’s mechanics and performance before. Earlier this week, players complained the Incendiary Grenade item was unbalanced, citing its dual purpose as a glitchy smoke grenade. The game has also been criticized for having a troublesome spawn system, with recent complaints that the spawn system in Free-For-All mode is as good as broken.

Earlier in January in Call of Duty: Warzone, the Krampus creature from the Festive Fervor update went wrong, after a serious graphical glitch caused the enemy to become invisible and attack players who weren't playing the related objective. This latest issue is another unfortunate blip in the short history of Call of Duty: Vanguard, and of issues affecting multiple games in the Call of Duty franchise.

Despite the current issues, fans of Call of Duty: Vanguard have a lot to hope for. The game is only a third of the way through the first of many seasons expected to come. If the same formula from other Call of Duty games is applied, players can expect to see new multiplayer maps, Operators, and weapons. In the meantime, Sledgehammer will likely be pushing to address the ongoing networking issues, which are too important to ignore.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
