With an impressive 38 weapons, Call of Duty: Vanguard players have a massive number of guns to choose from when making their class. However, as is usually the case with Call of Duty games, players have wasted no time discovering the very best weapons in the game. For Assault Rifles, that honor belongs to the StG 44, and for SMGs, the crown goes to the MP-40.

With so many Call of Duty: Vanguard players gravitating towards the MP-40, the other SMGs are not getting much use in the game’s multiplayer. However, that does not mean that they are useless. While the Sten is weak and the PPSH-41 is only average, the other guns in the category are solid. This extends to the Owen Gun, an underrated weapon with a unique design and the potential to decimate any enemies that step into its path.

When gamers first try the Owen Gun in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s multiplayer, they will instantly realize how strange the weapon’s design is. Instead of the magazine being attached to the bottom of the gun, it will be seen on the top, making for a distinct look that can prove distracting for players. As such, swapping the iron sights for another reticle is wise, as the default sights take up the left side of the screen just as much as the magazine takes up the upper middle.

However, while it may look strange, the Owen Gun packs a punch. It is highly accurate with solid damage, with the gun’s fire rate being one of its few downsides. Fortunately, there are ways to limit its weaknesses while boosting its strengths, and the right attachments are all that players will need. One additional benefit of the Owen Gun is that is a favorite weapon for one of the Call of Duty: Vanguard Operators. As such, players can equip Lucas to level up the weapon faster, with Lucas also being leveled up fast when the gun is used.

Best Gunsmith Attachments For Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Owen Gun

As mentioned earlier, Call of Duty: Vanguard players will want to choose whichever optic they prefer, as anything functions better than the iron sights. The Slate Reflector and Mk. 3 Reflector should both get the job done. With the key attachments adding recoil to the gun, players will want to compensate with the F8 Stabilizer muzzle. The M1930 Strife Angled underbarrel and Rubber Grip will also improve accuracy. The Gawain H4 Folding stock will help in this area as well, though players should expect a slower ADS speed when using these attachments.

The most important attachments for the Owen Gun are the Hockenson 142mm Rapid barrel and the 7.62 Gorenko 72 Round Drums. The barrel will provide a massive boost to fire rate, something that the drum mags will compensate for due to the additional ammo. They also add accuracy stats that will help with controlling the kick that the barrel adds, which is a huge help. With the main downsides of this Call of Duty: Vanguard weapon being its slow rate of fire, these attachments remove that negative while keeping its damage mostly intact.

The rest of the attachments are up to the player, though with the magazine and barrel slowing the weapon down, it makes sense to boost its movement speed. As such, adding the Quick kit and Fleet proficiency while in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Gunsmith would be wise. Ammo type is personal preference, though Frangible and Lengthened are solid options with no real negative effects. With these attachments, players should have no problem succeeding with the weapon - assuming they can get used to the magazine taking up a chunk of their peripheral vision.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
