While Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer is certainly fun, it is not without its fair share of problems. One issue Call of Duty: Vanguard fans have is tied directly to weapon balance, with the bayonet attachment clearly not working as intended.

While Call of Duty: Vanguard’s gunsmith is deep and expansive, the bayonet does exactly what one would expect. Attached on the end of a weapon, the extended blade allows players to deliver a lethal melee kill quicker, as they do not need to pull out a knife or deliver two hits with the end of their gun. While the bayonets are also meant to give players a bit more range with their melee attacks, what players are seeing inside their matches is certainly a too much, as players are able to stab opponents from great distances.

A new bug seems to be giving Call of Duty: Vanguard players ridiculous melee range if they have the bayonet equipped. This was shown clearly via a brief clip from a Reddit user named ConsumerOfSkooma. In the killcam footage, which showcases the bayonet user breaking down a door, things seem normal. However, they then melee with the bayonet again, managing to kill someone that is several feet away from the broken wooden structure. Based on the distance between the attacking player and their victim, something is clearly wrong with the attachment.

In the comments, Redditors like PivotRedAce were quick to point the similarities between this broken bayonet and Commando Pro from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. In that game, the Pro perk allowed players to knife their opponents from absurd ranges, and it was widely regarded as one of the most abilities perks in the game. However, with the entirety of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 built around overpowered weapons and loadout options, Commando Pro was essentially able to balance itself out.

With balancing in Call of Duty: Vanguard being much more important than it was in 2009, though, especially with League Play on the way, the bayonet needs to be fixed soon. As shown in a clip on the unofficial @CODWW2Vanguard Twitter account, a bayonet user can be seen getting an absurd kill on someone that is standing on a ledge high above. With the animation not coming close to reaching the player, it is clear that the attachment is busted, and hopefully Sledgehammer Games will be able to deal with the problem quickly.

While there are other Call of Duty: Vanguard bugs that need to be fixed, the prevalence of this bayonet glitch makes it something to prioritize. With players using the attachment to pick up cheap kills, it is only a matter of time before everyone is wielding the glitchy bayonet.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
