Call of Duty: Vanguard has officially launched, and with it comes a brand-new trophy set for gamers to work on. While Call of Duty: Vanguard’s trophy set features some fun nods to memes like “press F to pay respects,” as well as the expected trophies for hitting max level in multiplayer and beating the campaign on Veteran, it also asks players to complete various tasks across the game’s missions.

Fortunately, these are not too difficult, with the most challenging part of the trophies and achievements being that players need to know when and where to go for them. For Call of Duty: Vanguard players that are trying to complete Only You Can Prevent Friendly Casualties, here is exactly what needs to be done in order to unlock the achievement.

Getting Smoke Grenades In Operation Tonga

Only You Can Prevent Friendly Casualties requires Call of Duty: Vanguard players to use smoke grenades to cover a charge during the mission Operation Tonga. As such, the first thing they need to do is acquire the smoke grenades. This can be done after players regroup with their squad at a burning windmill. During the objective “Take The Bridgehead,” players will come across some woods where a truck drives by, and they will have the ability to attack it.

Regardless of whether players attack this truck, they will come up to a gate once they are through the woods. As soon as they pass by the gate, they can see some crates on their left. They can pick up smoke grenades here, though they will want to make sure that they hold onto them for later use in this Call of Duty: Vanguard mission. Once they have the smoke, gamers can keep playing until they reach the objective “Prepare To Assault Gun Battery.”

Later in the mission, players will enter a truck and use it to set off a minefield. After the truck has been crashed into the mines, players will end up inside a big ditch. They will be pinned down inside of this trench, with enemies firing from MG turrets inside of bunkers. From there, Arthur Kingsley can give the order to rush the bunkers if players press up on the D-pad. Players should do this, and Kingsley will emote as his men push forward.

As soon as the animation is complete, players will want to toss the smoke grenades above the soldiers’ heads. They should make sure to stay in the trench while they toss the smoke. While this trophy should unlock as soon as one is thrown, players can toss a few more smoke grenades just to be safe. With this achievement unlocked, gamers can turn their attention to the other miscellaneous trophies in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
