While Spring typically brings with it warmer and brighter weather to enjoy, this year it is also bringing with it plenty for anyone playing Call of Duty: Vanguard or anyone looking to give it a try. Sledgehammer Games' first shot to the game came in the form of Season 2: Reloaded, a mid-season update bringing with it fresh content for both the competitive multiplayer and Warzone. The studio is also looking to entice new players who haven't given it a try yet by giving them the chance to check out the competitive multiplayer for free.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is the latest entry in the long-running shooter franchise from Activision and is the third title with Sledgehammer Games serving as lead developer. It takes the series back to World War 2 as players follow a specials forces squad sent into Germany to uncover a hidden plot to ensure the Third Reich endures. Alongside the campaign, Vanguard features the multiplayer players have come to expect from the series, as well as the latest chapter of Zombies and a fresh update to Warzone.

It is the competitive multiplayer which was the focus of the latest blog post on Call of Duty's official website, which announced the upcoming two-week free access for players on all available platforms. The free access event, running from March 30 to April 13, will let players jump into the new Arms Race mode set in the new Alps map. More maps and modes will also be available to enjoy inside the multiplayer playlist players can enjoy for the two-week period.

Sledgehammer spotlights Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone's Season Two Reloaded refresh.

The free access event is perfectly timed as it comes on the heels of the aforementioned mid-season update, Reloaded, which introduced Arms Race to the game. It almost ensures player activity in Vanguard's multiplayer will be fairly active when the all-access event kicks off at the end of March.

Players can also argue that doing an all-access event during the first two weeks of April is a smart move on Sledgehammer Games' part as it ensures player counts will stay up as Spring begins. Spring and Summer can be quieter periods for some games as people start heading outside to enjoy the warmer weather. Events and updates, like Reloaded and the all-access period, are smart business tactics to incentivize players who may be looking to take a break to stay on and continue enjoying the game or try it out for the first time.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
