Call of Duty: Vanguard is live now, meaning that its three core game modes are available to play. While many are surely interested in the content-filled multiplayer or Call of Duty: Vanguard’s interesting Zombies mode, a traditional campaign is present for singleplayer fans.

For those interested in the Call of Duty: Vanguard campaign, they should be happy to know that it will be just as long as the other recent entries to the series. This extends to the game’s mission count, as players will be experiencing a solid number of missions in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s singleplayer mode.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Mission Count

As players are introduced to the game’s cast of special forces Operators, they will embark on nine distinct missions. This is on par with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s ten missions, ensuring that players spend plenty of time inside the game’s World War 2 setting. The list of missions is as follows.

  • Phoenix
  • Operation Tonga
  • Stalingrad
  • The Battle of Midway
  • Lady Nightingale
  • The Rats of Tobruk
  • The Battle of El Alamein
  • The Fourth Reich

A few of these mission titles should jump out at Call of Duty fans, as the game will feature some important battles that happened in the real-world version of World War 2. Players have also seen gameplay of Stalingrad and Lady Nightingale, as the missions center around female protagonist Polina Petrova. The levels will see her fighting through Stalingrad while it is being attacked, with Petrova putting her skills as an expert sniper to good use. Based on the other mission titles, though, players should see far more than some sniper missions during the campaign. With so much variety clearly hinted at by these names, players should be in for some solid historical fiction in this year’s campaign.

How Long Is Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Campaign?

Based on the mission count and full playthrough runtimes, Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign will last somewhere between 5-6 hours. Once again, this is comparable to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s length, with that game’s campaign likely to be a bit longer if players complete side missions or try to see the different choices play out. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 also had a similar campaign length.

As always, it is worth noting that a Veteran difficulty is available, and if players want to unlock every Call of Duty: Vanguard trophy, they will need to beat the game on this difficulty. With this option seeing enemies become significantly more aggressive, and players dying in a few shots, some trial and error will be needed in order to finish the campaign on Veteran. As such, those looking to play the game this way can expect the campaign to be in the 7–8 hour range due to plentiful retries.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
