The release of Call of Duty: Vanguard earlier this month was somewhat underwhelming despite the game taking big strides when compared to its earlier betas. Because of this, some may be put off playing Call of Duty: Vanguard, but the game does have plenty of fans who are loving the latest CoD game. Vanguard is well set up to have a dedicated fanbase given its setting, which has been one of the game’s big selling points.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s World War 2 setting has many CoD fans excited, as it has allowed the series to revisit classic maps and weapons. The latter point in particular has proven to be of great excitement, with fans thoroughly enjoying using weapons like the MP-40 or StG 44. The G-43 is one returning weapon that has flown under the radar somewhat, but it could be useful to Vanguard players.

What is Call of Duty: Vanguard’s G-43?

Call Of Duty Vanguard Previewing The G-43 Before Unlocking It

One of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s many returning weapons is the G-43, a marksman rifle that has been ever-present in World War 2 era Call of Duty titles. Perhaps more commonly known as the Gewehr 43, the G-43 is a fast-firing semi-automatic rifle that is of best use at mid to long-range. Because of its high rate of fire, it stands out among other rifles of its kind, leaning more so towards assault rifles than to single-shot sniper rifles. This may make the G-43 stand out as a weapon that appeals to many more players than Call of Duty: Vanguard’s M1 Garand or SVT-40, as the firepower of a marksman rifle is simply not something that can be found in other assault rifles.

The G-43’s past Call of Duty appearances have been somewhat mixed in terms of fan reception, with different incarnations proving to be of varying levels of usefulness; the Gewehr 43 in Call of Duty: World at War’s multiplayer was potentially the brightest version of the weapon. It is unlocked at level 7, making it a great option during the early stages of online play, and its fast firing rate comes in handy. The version in Call of Duty: Vanguard can definitely be one of the better iterations of the Gewehr 43, although for it to rank among the best, it may need some attachments to take it to the next level. Fortunately, players can add up to 10 attachments to suit the weapon to their needs.

Best Attachments for the G-43

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s gunsmith is a great way to give some of the game’s trickier weapons a boost. The G-43 is one weapon that is in particular need of a few revisions in order to take it to the next level and align it a little more with another class of weapons. The G-43’s speed makes it obvious which avenue players should take the gun down, as increasing its firepower at the cost of this speed would make it simply fall in line with what players can already get from the M1 Garand. The G-43 is a great example of how the gunsmith can completely transform a weapon, making it appeal to gamers that it would ordinarily not appeal to.

No Call of Duty: Vanguard operator has the G-43 as their favorite weapon, so there are no XP boosts to be had. This is unfortunate as the first attachment players will want to unlock is the last unlocked barrel, the Wyvern 570MM Full-Auto, which will make the G-43 a fully-automatic weapon. To make up for the reduced accuracy of this modification, players should then equip the F8 Stabilizer, the Polymer Grip, and the M1930 Strife Angled underbarrel to bump up the weapon’s accuracy. Lastly, players can equip the 6.5MM Sakura 20 Round Mags to double the gun's ammo capacity, and the G-43 will be completely transformed into what is essentially an assault rifle with more firepower.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
