Call of Duty fans will have the first opportunity to play Call of Duty: Vanguard this coming weekend thanks to the PlayStation exclusive Alpha test. The Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha will be available to play from August 27 to August 29, but fans can pre-load it now. Some have been able to check out Call of Duty: Vanguard's settings in the Alpha's menus and have discovered some interesting details about the game in the process.

As shared by CharlieIntel, Call of Duty: Vanguard will see the return of Tactical Sprint, weapon mounting, and mantling. The game is capable of running at 120Hz on PlayStation 5, which was also true of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, so it's good to see that functionality return in the new game. While most fans would consider these details good news when it comes to Call of Duty: Vanguard, the settings also revealed some potentially disappointing details about the game as well.

Something that fans may not like is the fact that it appears as though Call of Duty: Vanguard does not have an FOV slider on consoles. PC users have been able to use FOV sliders in recent Call of Duty games, with console fans left out. It's possible that the feature will be added between the Call of Duty: Vanguard Alpha and the game's proper launch, but fans wanting an FOV slider shouldn't hold their breath.

Something else that will potentially worry some fans is that Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer maps will apparently have doors. It may seem like an odd criticism, but Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's doors were a point of contention with some in the community, as they felt that they messed with the flow of the gameplay and encouraged camping. It's unclear if they will be as abundant as the Modern Warfare doors, but fans should find out more when they get their hands on the Vanguard Alpha this weekend.

Call of Duty: Vanguard's use of doors is likely a result of the game utilizing the Modern Warfare engine. And while that particular aspect of the Modern Warfare multiplayer wasn't popular with all Call of Duty fans, it seems many are otherwise happy that the game is going back to the MW engine. In any case, it's far too early to make any judgments on Call of Duty: Vanguard's quality, but fans can start putting together more well-informed opinions when they play the Alpha.

Call of Duty: Vanguard launches November 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
