Call of Duty: Vanguard's release date is just over a week away, and so the wait for the new Call of Duty game is nearly at an end. Call of Duty game file sizes are notoriously large as of late, and so it stands to reason that CoD fans would want to preload the game so they can play right away at launch. Activision has now revealed exactly when Call of Duty: Vanguard preloading begins and what the game's file size will be across most of its available platforms.

Call of Duty: Vanguard preloading starts on PlayStation 4 and 5 at 9pm PT in North and South America. Those in other regions will be able to repload the game beginning October 29, local time. Those who plan on picking up Call of Duty: Vanguard on Xbox One or Xbox Series X will be able to preload starting October 28 at 9pm PT regardless of where they live.

Recently, it was teased that Call of Duty: Vanguard's file size would be significantly smaller than other recent Call of Duty games, and it seems Activision wasn't bluffing. On PS5, Call of Duty: Vanguard's file size is 64.13 GB with 89.84 GB of required space. On PS4, the Call of Duty: Vanguard file size is 54.65 GB with 93.12 GB of required space. Meanwhile, those on Xbox Series X have a 61 GB download ahead of them, while those on Xbox One will have a 56.6 GB file to contend with.

Activision has said that players will be able to "manage storage space" to reduce the Call of Duty: Vanguard file size as well, though it's unclear exactly what this means. It's possible that Call of Duty players will be able to pick and choose exactly what they have installed. Previous Call of Duty games allowed players to uninstall campaign if they were only interested in multiplayer, for example. So maybe if Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies isn't of interest to players, they can drop it to make some more space on their hard drives, though more specific details are unavailable at the time of this writing.

What's been left out of the equation so far is the Call of Duty: Vanguard PC port, which is still light on details. Activision has promised that more information on the Call of Duty: Vanguard PC minimum and recommended specs will come "soon," but didn't specify when. Meanwhile, those who want to repload the PC version of Call of Duty: Vanguard will be able to do so starting November 2.

Of course, preloading Call of Duty: Vanguard requires one to pre-order the game, and so they would need to do that before launch. There are a variety of Call of Duty: Vanguard pre-order bonuses for fans to look forward to, including content for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, though some of these bonuses are only available to those who pre-order Vanguard by November 2, so fans should keep that in mind.

Call of Duty: Vanguard launches November 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
