Call of Duty: Vanguard players have been mostly positive on the game, particularly when it comes to its multiplayer - though that does not mean it is perfect. One of the issues players have with Call of Duty: Vanguard is directly tied to how its Diamond camo looks in-game.

This is not the only issue players have with the weapon skin, though, as a bugged challenge is currently making Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Diamond camo impossible to unlock for Assault Rifles. While this is frustrating given the fact that the mastery camos take so much effort to acquire, the bigger issue is that some may not see the camo as worth unlocking at all. While some may just see Diamond as a necessary step towards Dark Matter, it is a camo of choice for others - though this year’s version may see that changing.

Redditor zalpsalph described the camo as looking like “thumbtacks glued to a gun,” and it is hard to argue with the fan’s assessment. While Call of Duty: Vanguard’s camo coverage is excellent, that does not matter much when the camo disappoints fans as much as this one does. For most, the issues are that the diamonds look completely flat, with the studs not appearing as if they are raised in any way. The end of the gun is particularly troublesome, as it looks like a 2D texture was pasted on the end of the weapon.

With the Diamonds lacking the shine seen with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Diamond camo, or any of the older versions for that matter, fans are understandably let down by the design. Fortunately, some have hope that Sledgehammer Games could adjust the camo based on player feedback. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s camos initially looked awful in Call of Duty: Warzone, but a fix was eventually made to improve their appearances. As such, perhaps an adjustment will be made to Call of Duty: Vanguard’s mastery camos.

In the comments, players were quick to make fun of the camo, with Redditor edmD3ATHmachin3 saying that the gun was “covered with wallpaper”. Another player, imlanding, dubbed this the “bubblewrap” camo due to how strange the diamond studs look. With other commenters pointing out the superior diamond camos from games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, it is clear that this camo is a major disappointment in the eyes of many. Others even suggested a replacement for Diamond, like Ruby or Sapphire.

While it remains to be seen if Sledgehammer Games will address this specific diamond camo concern, hopefully a fix is introduced soon for the broken camo challenge. With many Call of Duty: Vanguard players unable to even unlock the design that they dislike, the disappointment is understandable.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
