The recent release of Call of Duty: Vanguard has been rather mixed, despite receiving its fair share of positive reviews. While some fans are very enthusiastic about the latest Call of Duty title, it has somewhat struggled commercially, which may have stemmed from issues with the game’s multiplayer. Call of Duty: Vanguard could yet be a very fondly remembered game, but it faces a challenge in winning all Call of Duty fans over.

What has helped with fan reception has been Call of Duty: Vanguard’s World War 2 setting, which offers up plenty of nostalgia to long-time Call of Duty players. A number of classic maps and weapons have returned in Call of Duty: Vanguard, which have been widely embraced by fans. One classic weapon that has proven popular in Vanguard is the Bren, which is one of the better guns in the game.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Bren LMG

Call Of Duty Vanguard Previewing The Bren Before Unlocking It

The Bren is a British light machine gun that has featured heavily throughout the Call of Duty series. The Bren has been present in a number of Call of Duty titles, although, interestingly it was scrapped from Call of Duty: World at War along with the game's British campaign, and was believed to be replaced with the Type 99. Despite this omission, the Bren has been a popular weapon in its Call of Duty appearances, standing out among other LMGs for being a powerful weapon, killing in very few shots. This is no exception in Call of Duty: Vanguard, as the Bren’s firepower still makes it stand out from the crowd, ranking as the most powerful LMG in Vanguard.

Because of the Bren’s unmatched power, it may be a weapon that is capable of turning heads and gaining users. However, fans may have concerns around the Bren’s speed and accuracy, which are each among the lowest in its class. With sustained fire, the Bren begins to lose accuracy significantly as its horizontal recoil kicks in. This can prove problematic for Bren users, as there isn’t much use in having high firepower if players are incapable of landing any shots. The Bren can be one of the best weapons in Call of Duty: Vanguard, but in order to rank among the best weapons in the game, it needs a few attachments to level out its attributes a little bit.

Best Bren Attachments in Call of Duty: Vanguard

By checking out Call of Duty: Vanguard’s gunsmith, players can massively improve their weapon's base stats in order to yield the best possible weapon. With the Bren, it’s fairly obvious where its strengths/weaknesses lie, it’s just about striking a solid balance between the pros and cons. Given that the Bren's main draw is firepower, it would make little sense to sacrifice this element of the gun in favor of improved accuracy, however, accuracy is definitely what the gun needs to take it to the next level. Fortunately, the volume of attachments available in Vanguard make it possible to build upon the weapon's strengths, without sacrificing what makes it a great gun.

Unfortunately, none of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s operators have the Bren down as their favorite weapon, so players will have to unlock attachments at regular speed. Luckily, the first attachment players will want to unlock is the F8 Stabilizer, the very first attachment unlock. This should be followed by the Queen’s 775M Scepter barrel, the Oak & Shield 12B stock, the Heavy Foregrip, and the Stippled Rear Grip to up the guns accuracy and recoil control. This can be topped off with the Tight Grip proficiency to increase accuracy with sustained fire, and the Bren will complete its transformation.

What players are looking for in a gun can vary, but with the right attachments, the Bren can be one of the best weapons in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Call of Duty: Vanguard was released on November 5th, 2021, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
