Call of Duty: Vanguard has had its fair share of problems, which have ranged from broken camo challenges to buggy killcams. However, one Call of Duty: Vanguard issue is a bit different, as a change to Care Packages is frustrating the game’s community.

Normally, Care Packages are an excellent option for players that struggle to get high level streaks. With the reward inside being random, there is always a chance that players can get lucky and pick up something strong like Attack Dogs or a Bombing Run, even if it is rare. As such, they are a very popular option amongst part of the Call of Duty fan base, and Sledgehammer has even doubled down on them by bringing back the multi-package Emergency Airdrop. While this initially had fans excited, players have since learned that some Care Packages seem to have a mind of their own.

Unfortunately, many Call of Duty: Vanguard players are not even getting the chance to open their crates because of the problem. Some have already criticized elements like Call of Duty: Vanguard’s weapon bloom and bouncy smoke grenades, labeling both as frustrating and unnecessary. However, those same words fit the new Care Packages even better, as players need to earn the Care Package through good play. As shown by Redditor Dr-Pez, the streak is more likely to fall off the map or get stuck than anything else.

This new Care Package issue is tied directly to how the streak lands once it is called in. In past games, Care Packages would fall directly below the helicopter that dropped them off, with the crates not moving once they hit the ground. In Call of Duty: Vanguard, though, Care Packages bounce after landing, something shown in the clip from Dr-Pez. While the footage is certainly funny, it likely gets annoying if the title is accurate and it really does happen to “80% of the Care Packages” the player calls in.

Dr-Pez’s Care Package is called in near the back of the Call of Duty: Vanguard map Eagle’s Nest, and it certainly looks like a safe spot for it to land. Unfortunately, the crate bounces instantly once it hits the ground, flying forward and straight off the map. This is just as big of a problem on other maps, as they will bounce out of bounds or onto rooftops, making the streak inaccessible. With Redditor natedoggcata pointing out another issue where players need to wait for the crate to stop rolling so it can be opened, there are several issues tied to this bounciness.

While other Call of Duty: Vanguard bugs may be more severe, hopefully Sledgehammer will listen to these complaints. Until it does, players may want to consider swapping out their Care Package for something else.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
