Call of Duty fans on PlayStation recently had the chance to try Call of Duty: Vanguard for the first time thanks to the playable Alpha test. Next up for Call of Duty: Vanguard is a playable beta, with a couple of different beta tests taking place this month. Developer Sledgehammer Games has now revealed more information about what Call of Duty fans can expect from the Vanguard beta, including its available maps and game modes.

There will be five Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer maps featured in the beta, consisting of Champion Hill, Hotel Royal, Gavutu, Red Star, and in week 2 of the beta, Eagle's Nest. The new Champion Hill mode will once again be a focus during the beta tests, but there will be other modes to play as well. The first weekend of the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta will include Champion Hill, Domination, Team Deathmatch, and Kill Confirmed, with Patrol joining the lineup the Saturday of Weekend 1. Weekend 2 will see Search and Destroy added to the mix.

Call of Duty: Vanguard guns will consist of 2 ARs, 2 LMGs, 2 snipers, 2 shotguns, and 2 pistols in Champion Hill mode. Call of Duty: Vanguard beta testers will be able to unlock 10 attachments for each weapon. Meanwhile, the regular multiplayer modes will let players upgrade the available weapons all the way to level 30. Players will be able to experiment with custom loadout slots, with 12 available to PlayStation gamers and 10 available to those on PC and Xbox.

Sledgehammer Games has also revealed a new feature that will be tested during the Vanguard beta called Combat Pacing. Combat Pacing will help make it so Call of Duty: Vanguard players are placed in matches that fit the kind of experience they're working for. The three different Combat Pacing options are Tactical, which is the classic Call of Duty multiplayer experience with 6v6 matches, and Assault, which is 20 to 28 player matches.

Finally, the third option available for Combat Pacing is Blitz, which is focused on "high-action lobbies." Similarly to Assault, Blitz matches will also have larger player counts, supporting anywhere from 28 to 48 player matches.

When the beta goes live, Call of Duty: Vanguard players will have six Operators to choose from. Call of Duty Operators are essentially the multiplayer playable characters, with each coming with their own Finisher. As confirmed by Sledgehammer Games, the Call of Duty: Vanguard Operators are Daniel Takeyatsu, Roland Zeimet, Lucas Riggs, Polina Petrova, Wade Jackson, and Arthur Kingsley.

Those interested in the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta will be able to play it on PlayStation from September 10 to 13, if they've pre-ordered the game. Then there will be an open beta for PlayStation gamers from September 16 to September 20. Those on PC and Xbox can play from September 16 to September 20 as well if they've pre-ordered, otherwise they will only get to play from September 18 to September 20.

Call of Duty: Vanguard launches November 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
