With all four major categories in the red compared to the original SMG, the Type 100 is often dismissed outright in Call of Duty: Vanguard. It's true, the Type 100 SMG is a rather terrible SMG. But it's a great assault rifle when players decide to build it that way.

Call of Duty: Vanguard offers loadouts that satisfy the creativity of gamers all over the world and they've found a way to make the Type 100 a force to be reckoned with on the backlines instead of the frontlines, thanks to its limited recoil and complementary attachments.

Operator

Call Of Duty Vanguard Wade Shooting A Type 100 From The Cockpit
  • Wade

Gamers who played through the campaign will have fond memories of Wade. Unlocking all of the operators is no small feat, but getting Wade isn't too bad, it only requires scoring 100 enemy headshots. Even an amateur player using hipfire will get lucky and snag 100 headshots after a day or two of gaming.

When Wade uses the Type 100, he not only gets bonus experience to himself as a character but experience to the gun as well. This makes the process of climbing the ranks and accessing high-tier attachments that much easier. Those who haven't unlocked him should do so before grinding out the Type 100 tiers.

Although the different versions of the game come with different unlocks, these attachments are all available after leveling up the Type 100 to the top tier. The theme here is to decrease its recoil (which is already quite low) and boost its accuracy.

Some might think this makes the SMG mid-range, but it actually does better than that. This weapon works well from mid to long-range and functions as an automatic weapon that can gun most players down from distances that can't take out the Type 100.

Secondary Weapon

  • MK11 Launcher

The starting weapons range from great to terrible but try as they might, none of them can match the MK11 Launcher as far as destructive capabilities are concerned. It completes this loadout by covering ranges that the Type 100 doesn't excel at.

The Type 100 handles things nicely at long ranges, but when the action starts to get close, instead of trying to win a short or mid-ranged contest, pull this out and fire off a few shots. Even if it doesn't kill the enemy, it will soften them up for the primary weapon to finish things off.

Perks

Perk 1

Cold Blooded

Perk 2

Forward Intel

Perk 3

Tactician

Perks like these would have been useful in a number of the campaign missions, but having them available in the multiplayer will have to do. This is by no means a covert build, but Cold Blooded keeps long-range fighters safe against many killstreak options that ordinarily target them.

Forward Intel expands the minimap and gives Type 100 players a heads up when opponents get too close. Frontline combatants have many good options for Perk 3, but Tactician is a useful pick for this loadout because of the dimension it can consistently add to the playstyle.

Lethal Slot

Call Of Duty Vanguard Looking At The Demolition Charge
  • Demolition Charge

There's a good chance that players are wondering where the Demolition Charge was when they were trying to get the Tickets Please achievement. It's a kill that requires minimal amounts of skill, just a bit of map knowledge and vision of the area.

Since the Type 100 will be on the backlines of combat, they'll be in a position to use the Demolition charge better than most. In many fights, it comes down to who is more accurate and who has the quicker trigger finger, but the Demolition Charge, when placed well, allows amateurs to score one against the pros.

Tactical Slot

Call Of Duty Vanguard Looking At Tactical S-Mine 44
  • S-Mine 44

The idea that players can check behind them and in front of them at all times is completely unrealistic. Splitting focus between areas means being a step slower than the competition, and that's all it takes to get taken out in Call of Duty: Vanguard.

With the Tactician perk, gamers can lock down the entire area around them. When players get tired of the Type 100 picking them off, they'll often group up to take out the player. Having multiple S-Mine 44s up and ready means getting kills by listening for a blast, turning, and shooting at the unfortunate soul who triggered the sound.

Killstreaks

  • Intel
  • Care Package
  • Mortar Barrage

Keeping killstreaks low might not be the flashy move, but it is the smart way to play. Intel is the cheapest killstreak and will give the Type 100 user a heads up on movement around them. It's useful both defensively and offensively.

Care Package is an obvious choice, it has over a 92% chance to yield a reward as good or better than the four kills it takes to unlock it. For moments when the fighting is just too far away, drop a Mortar Barrage, get some kills, and force enemies into a zone that is much more friendly.

Field Upgrade

  • Deployable Cover

The perfect vantage point rarely, if ever has cover. The developers put a lot of thought into trying and balance the game so no single position is too powerful. It's supposed to be a risk that players take when they settle in and shoot from afar.

But there are ways around it and the Deployable Cover is one of the best ways to get cover where it is needed the most. It's got a very fast recharge rate, so don't feel bad about dropping one and then moving or dying.

Call of Duty: Vanguard was released on November 5th, 2021, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
