A rumor has just recently been spotted floating around the world wide web that states that Activision plans on announcing something big for their Call of Duty franchise, but the best part of this rumor is that the announcement is said to be coming very soon. That’s right, the big Call of Duty news is said to be coming within the next week, but one question remains — What will it be?
Rock, Paper, Shotgun states that their “sinister agents” (i.e. inside sources) have tipped them off to the big CoD reveal and the immediate thought is that Activision will finally be announcing Modern Warfare 3 (as the voice actor for Modern Warfare 2‘s Ghost has alluded to). There is however, said to be something else that will be the focal point of the reveal. The big announcement should appeal to PC-centric gamers as it pertains to a new game called Call of Duty Online.
Call of Duty Online is could very well be Activision’s way of competing against the popular free-to-play PC game Battlefield Play4Free, as well as other free-to-play online titles. Of course, it could also be the long-rumored Call of Duty MMO that people have been talking about for quite some time.
[Update: According to VG247 – and as we reported earlier – the big Call of Duty announcement was suppose to come last night, but obviously this was not the case. That doesn’t mean the rumor should be discarded quite so fast as Call of Duty titles are traditionally announced prior to E3.
IGN is also chiming in on the action, stating that an announcement will likely be coming at Activision Blizzard’s earnings call which is currently scheduled for this upcoming Monday at 1:30 PST.]
The best part of this rumor is that we’ll know if it’s valid relatively soon, so stay tuned to Game Rant for more information on any Call of Duty news.
