The saga regarding the dominance of the DMR 14 in Call of Duty: Warzone has been quite the sight to behold, and it seems like it is not over yet. With players still wanting to see further changes made to the weapon, Call of Duty: Warzone expert NICKMERCS has made some suggestions for changes.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s DMR nerf may have seemed like a sign that things were taking a turn for the best, but fans were quick to point out that the gun is still the strongest weapon in the battle royale game by far. With changes only made to headshot damage and recoil, players quickly bombarded Raven Software’s Twitter account with requests for change — citing the weapon’s fire rate and non-headshot damage as far too extreme.

With Raven responding to the many DMR complaints and hinting that another nerf is being considered, Call of Duty pro NICKMERCS wasted no time detailing a way to finally end the “DMRzone” meta. Calling the overuse of the gun “crazy” and saying, “we’re sick of it, I’m sick of it,” NICKMERCS begins to highlight the issue with the attempted nerf. According to the loadout expert, “Raven Software said they reduced the headshot damage from a two-tap to a three-tap, but you can shoot this thing so fast that it doesn’t even matter.” The pro player then suggested a major potential change for the DMR 14.

NICKMERCS’ suggestion includes the much-discussed rate of fire nerf, however, he believes one other change should be made as well. The FaZe member believes that “the best thing they can do is change the ammo to sniper ammo,” as this will make the DMR “a much harder weapon to use.” An interesting suggestion that would see the gun firing off the extremely rare bullets used in snipers like the Kar98k, this nerf could be the best move to make.

Previously, NICKMERCS has warned players that the meta will not be fixed upon the DMR’s loss of power. With other tactical rifles like the Type 63 being nearly as strong as the broken weapon, a new weapon of the same class will simply take the DMR’s position if nothing changes. However, if the DMR 14 and every other tactical rifle in the game begin to require sniper rifle ammo to function, Call of Duty: Warzone players would see the weapons becoming less prevalent while still being fun to use.

NICKMERCS solution to the DMR problem seems like the best of both worlds, though it could be some time until a nerf of any kind is implemented. Until then, players that want to play the game but cannot be bothered to go through another DMR fight should consider playing in Call of Duty: Warzone’s bot lobbies.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
