Activision announces that the second phase of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare online multiplayer beta will be open to everyone that owns a PlayStation 4.
The first phase of the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare multiplayer beta concluded yesterday, but the second phase is scheduled to begin this coming Friday. Fans still aren't sure what to expect from the second phase of the multiplayer beta, except we now know that many more people will have a chance to play it, as the second phase will be open to all PS4 owners, not just those that have pre-ordered the game.
Players can start downloading the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare multiplayer beta on PS4 right now. The same goes for Xbox One owners in terms of pre-loading, but anyone looking to try the Infinite Warfare beta on Xbox One will still need to pre-order the game. This may disappoint some gamers, but Xbox fans are still better off than the PC crowd, as the Infinite Warfare beta is skipping PC entirely.
Of course, Xbox owners that would like to try Infinite Warfare before they buy it could always pre-order the game, try the beta, and then cancel their pre-order if they're not impressed. However, if they do come away excited for Infinite Warfare's futuristic setting and sci-fi story, they may want to keep the pre-order, as there are other bonuses included besides the beta, such as a remake of Terminal from Modern Warfare 2, and some bonus items for the Zombies in Spaceland mode.
Pre-order bonus items may not be enough to convince people to buy the game, however, considering the overwhelming hate aimed at Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare since its reveal trailer. Infinity Ward has a chance to sway some skeptics with the second phase of the multiplayer beta and secure some of its pre-orders, so it may go all out with the beta's second phase.
This could mean that the second phase of the multiplayer beta has more game modes than the first phase. It may start out with fan favorite modes like Gun Game and Kill Confirmed, instead of adding them on the second and third days of the beta testing period. Furthermore, the beta could feature more than the four maps and three Combat Rigs that were available in the beta's first phase.
With Infinity Ward opening the beta up to all PS4 owners, we're already seeing how the second phase will be even bigger than the first. Hopefully the data collected by Infinity Ward during this beta testing period enables it to make important tweaks to the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare multiplayer experience before release, so that it is the best game it can possibly be come launch in a couple of weeks.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be available on November 4, 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
