Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 will kick off on August 5, and it's going to bring with it a lot of new content for players to sink their teeth into. Now Activision has released a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 road map that confirms everything that will be available in the game once the update goes live, and some content that players can look forward to later in the season.

At launch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5 will include the Shadow Company Operator Lerch, the AN-94 and ISO weapons, new Mastery Challenges, and four new multiplayer maps. The multiplayer maps include the Verdansk Intl. Airport map for Ground War, the Livestock map for Gunfight, as well as the Petrov Oil Rig and Suldal Harbor map for standard multiplayer, with the latter being a remake of a fan favorite map from the very first Call of Duty. Standard multiplayer fans can also check out the new Search and Destroy Double Down mode.

As far as Warzone goes, players can look forward to Stadium finally opening up, as well as being able to explore the train station interior. A moving train itself is being added to the battle royale map, and players will also be able to utilize exterior ascenders to get to the top of buildings much faster.

Later in the season, Call of Duty fans can look forward to the Bare Bones and Ground War Reinforce modes, as well as a new Warzone match type called King Slayer. The new Operator Velikan is going to be added, in addition to some new weapons. Dual Kodachis are confirmed, but the other new weapon is being kept secret for now.

Activision has also teased a mysterious mid-season event for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5, but details on what exactly that will entail have yet to be revealed at the time of this writing. Leakers have suggested that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal will take place in Warzone, so perhaps this event is what's going to be used to reveal the next game in the long-running series.

Besides everything listed here, there's even more new content in store for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone later in Season 5. Activision has yet to reveal what this new content will entail, but more information should be made available in the coming weeks. For now, Call of Duty fans can prepare for the big Season 5 update and jump into all the new content starting August 5.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
