Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 6 added a select few new weapons to the game, and they’re all great additions to any loadout. Unfortunately, many of the new weapons are a bit too great, as those Season 6 weapons are now getting nerfed pretty heavily.

The AS VAL and the SP-R 208 in particular were nerfed significantly in the recent 1.28 patch. However, it looks like the brand new JAK-12 shotgun just introduced to Modern Warfare and Warzone might be next up to get a nerf as evidenced by a recent Twitter video.

The JAK-12 shotgun was just added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone today, so it makes sense that the weapon’s balance isn’t quite perfected. However, it seems that the range on the JAK-12 can be astronomical, which probably shouldn’t be the case for a fully automatic shotgun. Players are no doubt unlocking the JAK-12 in Modern Warfare as soon as possible to test it out, and Warzone players have the chance to stumble upon it during matches as well. Now, a recent Twitter video from Call of Duty content creator and competitor IceManIsaac showcases just how much range the JAK-12 can have.

The video in question showcases IceManIsaac essentially sniping an enemy in Warzone with the JAK-12. It’s not unheard of for a shotgun to have some range when aiming down sights, but the JAK-12’s current range and damage combination seems too overpowered to be intentional. A similar problem arose with Modern Warfare’s 725 shotgun, which was nerfed shortly after release due to its incredible range and damage output. While IceManIsaac’s video shows that it still takes a few rounds to knock out an enemy in Warzone, the JAK-12 currently seems too strong.

This surely isn’t the first or last time Modern Warfare sees a completely broken gun in its weapon roster, as the recent SP-R 208 marksman rifle is still making waves among the community. While the rifle has been nerfed, it remains to be seen if it will really balance the weapon out completely. In a similar vein, players should not be surprised if the JAK-12 sees a nerf in the near future, provided that more examples of the gun’s incredible damage and range continue to pop up. Seeing as IceManIsaac’s video is gaining traction on social media, players will surely try out the JAK-12 online for themselves.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s weapon roster gets nerfs fairly frequently as Infinity Ward tries to keep balance among the different weapon classes. Whenever one weapon dominates the online meta, it can be quite frustrating for players. However, a shotgun has not dominated the meta for quite some time, so it will be interesting to see how Infinity Ward tackles the JAK-12. In any case, the JAK-12 is surely going to shake up plenty of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Season 6 weapon tier lists.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
