Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been regularly updated since launch, with Infinity Ward releasing small updates that have made bug fixes, balanced weapons, and in one instance, added the maps Shoot House and Krovnik Farmland. However, the game has now received its promised big November update, and it not only adds a couple of new match types for multiplayer, but it also brings back classic Spec Ops for fans to play in co-op.

The Classic Spec Ops mission in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is called Door Kick, and it brings back the 3-star rating system from the Spec Ops modes in past Modern Warfare games. Players will be rewarded with XP and can unlock multiplayer content by participating in Spec Ops. In our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare review, one of the main complaints was the lack of classic Spec Ops missions, so this should go a long way in appeasing disgruntled fans. Those who enjoy the Spec Ops "Operations" can jump in the two new ones that have been added with update 1.09, entitled Harbinger and Brimstone.

As far as multiplayer goes, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update 1.09 also adds Gun Game and Realism Moshpit. Gun Game is a fan favorite mode that originated in the first Black Ops, with the basic concept of starting with one weapon and moving up to a new one with each kill. The first player to get a kill with every weapon wins the match. Realism Moshpit, meanwhile, lets players try a variety of modes with the Realism settings turned on, including Domination, Hardpoint, Headquarters, and Kill Confirmed.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update 1.09 is 15.3 GB and should be rolling out to PC, PS4, and Xbox One users now.

While the addition of Gun Game and new Spec Ops content certainly headlines this big Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update, it also fixes a bunch of lingering bugs and technical issues that have been plaguing the game. This includes a fix for the claymore hacking bug that would make players lose their HUD, along with various progression tracking issues that have kept players from completing daily missions and earning achievements.

The big Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 1.09 update also adds munition drops to Spec Ops missions to make them a bit easier to complete, and it makes it so players can see through smoke using thermal scopes. On paper, it looks like this Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update will go a long way in bringing the game up to snuff, though it's possible that it will cause some unforeseen issues that will only come to light after players get their hands on it. Regardless, this update should give Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans plenty to do over the weekend.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
