Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have been trying to achieve max rank since the game's release, but XP isn't always the easiest to come by, and seasonal resets make it all the more difficult for those with limited time. Though the game lacks the prestige system that previous titles in the Call of Duty franchise, players still want to prove their skills and dedication to the wider community. Recently, one player came forward with a strategy that will net gamers with unlimited XP enhancers.

Occassionally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will give players special windows of opportunity to gain more XP while they are playing. This will take the form of double XP weekends or tokens, which will help players get further in the season's battle pass or rank up in the game. Tokens can be obtained through special promotions or playing matches, but one player found a way to get unlimited tokens for a constant stream of XP boosts.

One Call of Duty player decided to share a tactic he discovered to generate these tokens. The player, YouTuber RatedLive, showed off one avenue of obtaining these tokens: signing up for the Call of Duty Companion app. The app allows players to check their stats and profile from mobile devices.

Upon signing up for the service, a player will be given a few double XP tokens as a reward. However, the YouTube Call of Duty player showed that this reward can be repeated for as many times as a player wants by quickly closing out of the app, essentially giving a player unlimited double XP tokens.

Now that this is out in the open, many players who were previously unaware of the Call of Duty exploit may take advantage of this mechanic. While this isn't the first glitch in Modern Warfare that exploits XP acceleration, the last bug with the game's Trial mode was recently patched so it can no longer be used. Infinity Ward has not said anything about fixing this exploit, it is likely that the developer will crack down on this glitch in a future update.

Call of Duty games have been having many issues with cheaters, and while gaining XP doesn't affect other player's ability to enjoy the game, it can give players an advantage in the long run. Whether a player uses these exploits or not, it's important to make sure they are performing based on their own skills regardless of the weapons they are using. Call of Duty cheaters disregard other players when they get into games, making the matches less enjoyable for many.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
