Rumor: Call of Duty Modern Warfare Spec Ops Details Leak, Includes Open World

rumor call of duty modern warfare spec ops details leak

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will finally reveal its multiplayer mode on August 1, but we still don't know exactly when the game will offer more details on its Spec Ops co-op mode. We know that Spec Ops is coming back for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but beyond that, we don't know much else. However, a new leak may reveal some of the first details about Spec Ops in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and it sounds like it will see some major changes from past iterations of the game mode.

This leak comes courtesy of YouTube channel TheGamingRevolution, which has accurately leaked Call of Duty news in the past. According to TheGamingRevolution, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Spec Ops mode will take place in an open world of some kind, with players able to explore and accept missions with their co-op partner at their leisure. The open world will have over 80 missions for co-op partners to play through, as well as some familiar faces, like Captain Price.

Apparently the Spec Ops open world will actually feature some elements of a battle royale game as well, with players dropping onto the map from a gunship and collecting equipment by searching through the map. Players can earn money by participating in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Spec Ops missions, which will carry over to other game modes.

If TheGamingRevolution is to be believed, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Spec Ops mode will feature about 20 playable characters for players to choose from, who will be the same Operators featured in the standard multiplayer. There will be a choice between American or Russian soldiers.

Finally, TheGamingRevolution suggested that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Spec Ops mode may actually be free-to-play and won't require players to own the full game. Alternatively, the rumored Call of Duty: Modern Warfare battle royale mode may be free-to-play instead, and in fact, it may share a map with Spec Ops.

Now the question is, should any of this be believed? Even though TheGamingRevolution has a proven track record when it comes to leaking Call of Duty news, we still advise fans to take this information with a massive grain of salt, like with any rumor. Luckily, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare coming out at the end of October, we should find out sooner rather than later if there's any truth to TheGamingRevolution's leaks.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
