Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 6 is now live in the game, and like usual, it introduces some new weapons for players to add to their arsenal. And also like usual, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare weapons have proven to be problematic, with many players complaining that they are way too overpowered. Luckily for disgruntled fans, Infinity Ward has nerfs in the works for the new Modern Warfare Season 6 weapons.

These nerfs were confirmed by Infinity Ward's Ashton Williams on Twitter. According to Williams, Infinity Ward is actively testing a patch for Modern Warfare Season 6 that nerfs the AS VAL and SP-R 208. Williams didn't provide a specific date or time that fans can expect the patch, but she did say that it will be released "as soon as possible."

For the uninitiated, the SP-R 208 Marksman Rifle in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently way overpowered, with a bug causing it to have virtually no bullet drop distance. It has become one of the most commonly-used weapons in any given Modern Warfare match, as it seems to give players a rather extreme advantage.

The AS VAL also has its issues, though they are seemingly less egregious than what's going on with the SP-R 208. When Modern Warfare players equip the AS Val with the 10 round mag attachment, the gun is able to shoot through walls without losing any of its damage output, making it especially deadly and powerful.

Overpowered guns are nothing new in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but to Infinity Ward's credit, it has typically moved fast to better-balance the guns in the game. As some may recall, the .725 shotgun was famously overpowered to the point where it was being used as a sniper by some players, but it's now no longer a dominating aspect of the game's meta. Similar issues have cropped up with other weapons, and they have also been nerfed accordingly.

Looking ahead, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans have more than just weapon balance updates to look forward to. Even with Black Ops Cold War's release date on the horizon, there's still plenty of new content in the works for the current game, with Season 6 still expected to have a mid-season update as well as a Halloween event of some kind. More details on the Modern Warfare and Warzone Halloween event will likely come to light in the coming weeks, and so fans should stay tuned for more information on that front.
