Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 just started, but fans of the first-person shooter are already looking to the future. Some may be wondering exactly when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 will be coming to an end and Season 5 will begin, and thanks to the Season 4 Battle Pass, we have a pretty good idea of when that will be.

Barring any unforeseen extensions, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 4 will end on Tuesday, August 4. Assuming it follows the pattern established by past Call of Duty seasons, that means the Modern Warfare Season 5 start date will be Wednesday, August 5. Like past seasons, Season 5 will likely bring with it a significant update that will add new maps, game modes, playable characters, and much more, so it's no surprise fans are excited to see all of what it will entail.

There should still be plenty for Call of Duty fans to look forward to in Season 4, however. A big mid-season update is planned for Modern Warfare in July, and while Infinity Ward hasn't revealed exactly what it will include, it has suggested that weapon balance changes will be coming as part of the update. More specifically, it's been teased that the Grau will be nerfed with the Modern Warfare mid-season update, but fans should wait for more specific details on that front.

Of course, new seasons in Modern Warfare also means new seasons in the Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale, and there should be plenty for fans of that mode to look forward to as well. Rumors have been swirling that a big Warzone map change is on the way, with some thinking it could come as part of the mid-season update, or as part of the Season 5 launch. The Warzone map change is also rumored to somehow be part of the Call of Duty 2020 reveal, so it may not be all that surprising if it doesn't take place until Season 5 starts in August.

Reputable Call of Duty leakers have suggested that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal won't be happening until August, so if it is tied to Warzone Season 5, then maybe there won't be any map changes happening this season at all. This is just speculation at this time, though, as Infinity Ward and Activision haven't revealed a ton of specifics when it comes to the mid-season update or Season 5.

In the meantime, fans can expect new Call of Duty updates for both Modern Warfare and Warzone to continue releasing on Tuesdays.
