Cameo is an online freelancing service in which people offer their services recording personalized video messages for the right price. Celebrities like Kevin Conroy and Ernie Hudson have put themselves up for hire on Cameo, as have video game voice actors like Steve Downes, who donated his earnings in April to Project C.U.R.E. Now Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's incoming operator Captain Price is available to book for $141 if fans want to get "words of wisdom" or messages to send on birthdays, weddings, and more.

Season 4 in Modern Warfare and Warzone will begin on June 3, and among its additions is fan-favorite character Captain Price — much like Season 2 added in Ghost. In the introductory video set up for Cameo, Price (who is portrayed by actor Barry Sloane in Modern Warfare) says he is "going to be laying low until then," and in the meantime is "linking up with the lads at Cameo" during some downtime between operations.

While having an in-game character record messages for "high-value targets" (HVT) is a cute, unique marketing gimmick for the upcoming season, Activision is also using the opportunity to bolster its charitable endeavors. All of the money earned by Captain Price (minus the portion which goes to Cameo) will be benefitting the Call of Duty Endowment, much like the "Fearless Pack" available in the Call of Duty Store.

The Call of Duty Endowment aims to help veterans find work once they've returned home, which is a great platform to take for a series that some may argue glorifies or normalizes wartime scenarios. The Fearless Pack in Modern Warfare includes a number of easter eggs and touching messages for veterans, as it was created with the help of Medal of Honor Recipient Captain Florent "Flo" Groberg.

While Captain Price is arguably the headlining act for Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 4, there will also undoubtedly be more maps, skins, weapons, and more on the way for fans of the first-person shooter series. In fact, some of the Season 4 weapons have been leaked already.

The fact that Call of Duty has characters as beloved and recognizable as Captain Price so the series can experiment with charitable drives like this is a testament to its success. That success has extended into esports as well, with the Call of Duty League recently partnering with TeamSpeak.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
