Yesterday, Infinity Ward revealed a myriad of details about the highly-anticipated second season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. These details gave fans confirmation on the content that will available on day one of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2, and players can access that content right now, as the new update has just gone live.

Indeed, players across all platforms will find that a number of new maps, modes, and more are now available in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Among these new offerings is Rust, a fan-favorite map originally introduced in 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which has been added to CoD: MW as both a multiplayer map and a Gunfight map.

Furthermore, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 has kicked off with the addition of an all new multiplayer map called Atlas Superstore as well as a new Ground War map called Zhokov Boneyard. These, in addition to CoD: MW's Rust, are the full extent of the new maps that are available right now, but more maps, including Khandor Hideout and Bazaar, will be released "later in the season."

With respect to new modes, the Call of Duty League Ruleset Playlist multiplayer mode is available now alongside the start of CoD: MW Season 2. Fans can also expect Gunfight Tournament, Demolition, and more to be added over the course of this second season, though Infinity Ward has not yet provided exact dates for the arrivals of these additional modes.

Today's update also refreshes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Battle Pass, and players can now begin unlocking the items found across its many tiers. As with the game's previous Battle Pass, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 2 Battle Pass features two paths, one that is free and the other that must be purchased, and players on both sides can look forward to obtaining new weapons, COD points, and more.

Additionally, those that purchase the CoD: MW Season 2 Battle Pass will immediately unlock Simon “Ghost” Riley, a fan-favorite character that debuted in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This Ghost unlockable is a nice counterpart to the aforementioned Rust map, and indeed it seems that both veterans of the franchise and newcomers alike have a lot to look forward to now that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's second season is live.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
