A new trailer has dropped for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on the Call of Duty YouTube page with an early look at what to expect when the game launches it's Season 1 update. According to the trailer, this will be the largest free content drop in the history of the Call of Duty series, which might be indicative of where the series is headed in the future.

Activision and Infinity Ward have been preparing for Season 1 for some time, releasing plans for the competitive rank reset that comes with the new season. However, the sheer amount of content coming to a Call of Duty game for free, only a month and a half after the game released, is fairly big news on its own.

The trailer itself focuses on the wealth of content Modern Warfare will be receiving when Season 1 finally arrives on December 3rd by running text across the screen, inter-cut with clips of gameplay from cinematic camera angles. Fans of the new Modern Warfare will be excited to know that not only will Season 1 be dropping new weapons and maps, there will also be new game modes coming to the title. For players who prefer to stick to co-op as opposed to competitive gameplay, new Spec-Ops missions will also be arriving alongside the other multiplayer content.

Plenty of the new content coming to Modern Warfare is well known by now, such as the new Ground War map "Port", which was announced and shown off through a collection of YouTube videos. However, it is likely that there are some surprises out there that Infinity Ward has kept close to the chest in order to keep players engaged as they unlock and discover the new weapons and maps in a more organic fashion. Considering how much content the new trailer has promised players, it's likely that there will be enough new game modes and maps to keep players engaged all the way to Season 2.

The question does still remain of how the Season 1 Battle Pass will affect the new content as it launches. With two new weapons allegedly coming with the Battle Pass, it is unclear if the paid content is simply a fast track to the new gear or if they'll be exclusive to the Battle Pass itself. Introducing Seasons into the Call of Duty series is new for Activision after all, so players may want to keep their ears to the ground for clues on how the free content may compare to what comes in the Battle Pass.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with Season 1 arriving on December 3rd
