A new and alleged retail posting for the next Call of Duty title features more details on the rumored Modern Warfare remaster, and apparently it will only feature 10 maps.

At this point, it's looking very likely that the beloved Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will at long last be remastered for a new generation of consoles. While gamers take to waiting on an official news drop, some more details on the retooled title have dropped in the form of an alleged retail posting. As it turns out, the revamped shooter may only feature a grand total of ten multiplayer maps from its original release.

The retail posting, which appears to be a much clearer image of the leak that initially confirmed Modern Warfare Remastered, has relayed this information, giving fans a few more key details about the unofficial product. While the ad seems to simply add visual clarity on the rumored products at first, it also puts expectations for the Modern Warfare remaster into check – as it won't be the fully fledged experience that some may have thought it to be. With that said, the campaign is said to be included and will likely remain untouched outside of some high-definition paint.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered contains only 10 MP maps from the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare game."

Apparently, the prices featured on the ad are Canadian (which explains the inflated cost), but those hoping to determine the authenticity of the ad can check it out for themselves below.

In total, the original Modern Warfare featured 20 multiplayer maps after DLC, so cutting that number in half may be a turn off to many longtime followers. With that said, cutting down on maps is something of an industry norm in recent remastered games. For example, Halo 2: Anniversary launched with a grand total of 6 remastered multiplayer battlegrounds, so at the very least it can be said that the Infinity Ward-developed classic will feature more than that.

At this point, it's looking very likely that Infinite War will be the next core iteration of the ongoing Call of Duty franchise, and tacking on Modern Warfare as a 'Legacy Edition' bonus is a good way to ensure that gamers pick up the higher-end bundle. Of course, the question now is whether or not that means that the MW remaster will also be made available outside of this bundle. It seems like a likely thing to happen given the title's inevitable popularity, but perhaps it will act as a timed 'Legacy Edition' exclusive in the meantime.

Regardless, it's looking like Activision will have to make its Call of Duty-related plans known in the near future in order to provide clarity to these leaks and corresponding fan speculation.
