As expected, Infinity Ward and Activision have confirmed a new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that will go live on Tuesday, August 18. This week isn't bringing with it any significant changes to the game, but some new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer playlists are being added to the mix.

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare playlists are headlined by Faceoff, which is a moshpit that adds traditional multiplayer match types to 3v3 Gunfight maps. This will include match types like Hardpoint and Grind, with the new Season 5 Gunfight map Livestock being featured in the rotation. Fans will have to try the Faceoff playlist for themselves on August 18 to discover the other Gunfight maps that are a part of the new playlist.

Those who prefer slightly bigger maps will be happy to know about the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer moshpit playlist that focuses on medium-sized maps. Specifically, players can look forward to playing on Oil Rig, Suldal Harbor, Cheshire Park, Hovec Sawmill, and Khandir Hideout.

The other playlist coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer in the August 18 update is Cyber Attack Pro. This is a variant of the standard Cyber Attack game mode, except players no longer have to revive fallen teammates, in turn allowing for faster-paced gameplay.

As far as Call of Duty: Warzone goes, the August 18 update won't be making many changes to the battle royale. The limited-time Mini Royale will still be available for at least one more week, so anyone that is interested should be sure to try it out while they still can. The other playlists available will be Battle Royale Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads, along with Blood Money Trios. While not explicitly stated, this does seem to imply that Plunder is getting the boot yet again.

And finally, Activision has revealed the new weapons that Call of Duty: Warzone players will be using when they go to the Gulag. The Gulag weapons swap on a weekly basis, and this week players will be utilizing assault rifles and SMGs.

In future, Call of Duty fans can expect more substantial updates for the game. Activision is planning a big Modern Warfare mid-Season 5 update that is expected to add a new weapon, new maps, and more to the experience, plus Season 6 is likely in the works as well. What future seasons will entail remain to be seen, but fans will find out more in the weeks and months ahead.
