Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has a massive file size compared to the average game download. As of recent updates, the popular shooter occupies more than 227 GB of storage space. Despite its size, there is still hope for Modern Warfare fans as a new update should help save some storage space for PC players.

The update adds one important feature that console owners have had access to for several months. As of tomorrow's update, PC fans will be able to uninstall specific segments of Modern Warfare and free up disk space. The feature will operate exactly like the console version, allowing access to each independent data pack and game option to be uninstalled.

This feature gives PC players the option to remove content they have no interest in playing or no longer need. Fans will be able to uninstall the campaign, Spec ops, Multiplayer, and any other game pack they want to remove. This option will be listed through the in-game settings under the general tab. Simply click on 'game installs' and view the list of installed content. Further details as to this process will be available once the patch lands.

Fan storage has been a concern recently after a popular YouTuber and tech analyst BattleNonSense noticed the size of the game. The PC version grew to be bigger than a 250GB SSD, which means that the data could exceed the starting space on some older systems.

While the community seems to be taking the size increases fairly well, there is a general concern among some fans of the game's future. Between the size of Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, players wonder if they will have space to contain other future titles.

There are some major, and rather large, games headed to systems later this year and into next year. With the next generation consoles holding a core storage size of 1TB on Xbox Series X and  825GB on PS5, these games can take up massive portions of space.

The update will be released on October 13th at 23:00 PDT, or 2:00 EDT / 7:00 BST on October 14th. This update is small, and will be listed as patch 1.28, adding onto the core options found in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Remember that while uninstalling content, a majority of the listed files are necessary for Multiplayer to function, so be careful when going through these new options.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
