Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has repeatedly attempted to fix the overpowered 725 shotgun with nerfs since the game's launch. The latest update for the game, which should be rolling out to PC, PS4, and Xbox One players throughout the day, represents yet another attempt by Infinity Ward to reign in the 725, and it also makes some changes to other weapons as well.

The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update nerfs the 725 shotgun by reducing its damage range, significantly reducing its damage range when certain attachments are equipped, and reducing effective damage when firing from the hip. The hip spread has been slightly increased, though, so it's not all bad news for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players who main the 725 shotgun.

In the meantime, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update addresses a couple of other weapons in the game. The AUG has been buffed to increase its close and mid range damage, and the Model 680 has been nerfed by reducing its damage range with range-extending attachments. It's possible Infinity Ward will release more updates that change these guns even further in the future, so Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans should keep that in mind.

Besides weapon balance changes, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update also addresses some lingering bugs and technical issues that have been plaguing the game. Various bugged multiplayer missions have been fixed, in addition to some Ground War and Spec Ops glitches. Additionally, the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update fixes an issue where players were able to duplicate their killstreaks, in turn giving themselves an unfair advantage over their competition.

This will be far from the last Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update released. So far, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has averaged about one update per week, so fans can likely expect yet another update to come next week.

While these balance changes and bug fixes are no doubt welcomed by the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare community, others may be more interested in content updates. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has added two new maps so far, but we know that even more are on the way. Leaks have also revealed some new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare weapons that will apparently be making their way to the game (like the Vector SMG and crossbow), so fans should have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
