The Season 1 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is live. Players now have access to new maps, guns, and missions.

But this isn't all the new content Activision and Infinity Ward plan to release for the season. From December 3 to January 28, new updates will arrive every week, and Infinity Ward took the time to talk about what some of this content will be.

The upcoming content will be more of the same but different. For example, new maps will release for both Multiplayer and Gunfight. Multiplayer will inherit reimagined maps from the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare called "Vacant" and "Shipment." Vacant will be an abandoned office building that will lock players inside, and Shipment will be a cargo yard that supports the run-and-gun playstyle. Shipment will also be the new map that Gunfight receives.

The Spec Ops game mode will receive new missions, one being a re-purpose from the originaCoD 4, and the other being brand new. The re-purposed mission returning to Modern Warfare will be Bomb Squad, which revolves around Armistice Team 4 QRF running around an Urzikstan city to disarm timed IEDs. The new Operation will be called Operation Just Reward. Here, players will attempt to cut off Al Qatala’s money supply in Verdansk by taking down the head of their financial operation, a feat they'll pull off by hacking the head's mobile data centers.

Multiplayer and Gunfight will also get new modes. Infected - a fan-favorite across all shooter games - is in the works for multiplayer. It's a survival game mode that features a group of corrupted players trying to eliminate potential survivors. Meanwhile, Gunfight OSP is set to return as well. The mode appeared in the Modern Warfare beta but never made its way into the full game. As the mode's name suggests, players will not have weapons at the start of a Gunfight match. They'll instead have to secure them from the map at the beginning of every round.

Infinity Ward didn't specify when all of these new things will arrive. A weekly update could release them all at the same time, or each week could only see the release of one of these updates. Players still have access to all of the new Season 1 content released today, though, so they have something to hold them over until these future updates arrive.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
