Activision and Infinity Ward introduced multiple things into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare through its April 28 update. Among them was a new weapon called the MK9 Bruen LMG, one that could be purchased with a Legendary blueprint called 'The Glitch' through the Encryption bundle in the Call of Duty Store or unlocked via an in-game challenge. However, players have expressed dismay with the difficulty of this challenge, and Infinity Ward has been listening.

In order to unlock the MK9 Bruen LMG in Modern Warfare as of this writing, a player must kill three opponents who are "near" a smoke grenade's blast using any LMG — and they have to do that in 15 different matches, according to an Activision Games Blog. Infinity Ward Co-Design Director of Multiplayer Joe Cecot responded to one player on Twitter Friday congratulating them for getting the weapon, and in response an Irish player who goes by Leo95Mid told Cecot they should change how to unlock it.

In response, Cecot told Leo95Mid that the team is currently working on a change to "make it count both if you or the victim are in the smoke," fitting with recent surprise Modern Warfare updates and fixes. Though the Activision Games Blog post outlining the challenge says it is "generous" because of the wide range of applicable weapons and smoke range, Leo95Mid and other players in the thread have expressed frustration at the presence of the smoke itself ruining matches.

Smoke has been viewed as a nuisance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare before. So much so that it was a big deal in March when players discovered a bug that let them see through the smoke without a thermal scope by using an Integral Hybrid Optic sight.

Though a new weapon in the form of the MK9 Bruen LMG is arguably one of the biggest things added in the April 28 update, it isn't the only thing. On top of different bundles in the store like a 'Pyromaniac' set and the 'Encryption' set, the developers have also implemented a Gunsmith Customs feature.

With Cecot letting fans know of the Modern Warfare team's intent to make the game's new gun easier to unlock sometime in the future, hopefully more players will be able to get their hands on a wider selection of weaponry. Then those players can keep at the grind to unlock the new Obsidian weapon camos to really deck out their collection.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
