Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward gives fans an idea of how long the story campaign will take to beat. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will bring back the single player story campaign after Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 went multiplayer-only, but that doesn't mean that Infinity Ward is skimping on content.

Speaking to GameReactor EU, Infinity Ward's studio narrative director Taylor Kurosaki explained that it is difficult to say how long Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will take to beat as the team is still working on it. "Every single tweak we make to it of the difficulty or anything like that can really affect the gameplay time," said Kurosaki. However, the developer did say that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be "traditional Call of Duty campaign length."

Call of Duty: WW2, the last Call of Duty game to offer a single player story campaign before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, takes players around 5-7 hours to beat. The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 story takes around seven hours to beat if a player is rushing through it, and the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare story also takes around seven hours to beat on average. So, it seems like the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare story will take around 7-9 hours to beat.

Seven hours may not seem like enough time to complete the game's story as Infinity Ward has confirmed that it Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have some incredibly emotional moments. The game's campaign director Jacob Minkoff revealed that the game's story is so emotional that it has made some playtesters cry. Minkoff didn't say which scenes had brought the playtesters to tears, but if the game's story has many moments like this, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players could spend quite a few hours crying in front of their television screens.

Previews of the game given to press also confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will have a child soldier mission with graphic violence. Infinity Ward probably isn't taking these scenes lightly and is likely making sure that they are depicted properly and with care. The developer will also have to use pacing to make sure that the game doesn't feel like nine hours of over the top violence. However, it could mean that players are in for an emotional ride when the game is released later this year.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will launch on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
