Call of Duty: Modern Warfare brought back Activision and Infinity Ward’s popular first-person shooter in a big way with last month’s launch, but the game hasn’t landed without its share of problems. A video posted on Reddit found that the multiplayer aspect of the game was failing to register damage between players.

While the Call of Duty series has released on an annual basis for over a decade, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the first to return to the breakthrough sub-series that put developer Infinity Ward on the map and takes the series back to a more familiar warzone after the futuristic Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and the historical warfare of Call of Duty: WWII. Player expectations were high for the rebooted take on a last-generation favorite, and the game quickly became another bestseller for the series, but players have been vocal about issues with the game’s multiplayer modes, most notably with the excessive firepower of the 725 shotgun.

A video posted on Reddit appears to show a player firing a P90 submachine gun at an enemy player at point-blank range in a private match with inconsistent damage. The problem appears most prominently toward the enemy player’s chest and arms, despite consistent targeting and fire from the first player.

The direct cause of the issue is unclear, but fans have speculated that the issue lies in misplaced hitboxes for the character models. The issue may be easy to miss within the dynamic context of a gunfight in a full multiplayer match, but has surely been noticed enough for it to be worth fixing by the development team.

Infinity Ward has not commented on the issue, while other players’ reactions in the Reddit thread have varied from anger toward the developer for not addressing basic bugs within Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s gameplay to determinations of what the reason behind the root of the game’s problem. With frequent hotfixes and content updates already being included in the game’s post-launch plans, it wouldn’t be out of the question for the developer to address the issue in the near future.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
