Last month, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Art Director Joel Emslie addressed an issue of screen-covering glare from Platinum camo usage by saying a fix would be "coming in a future update." A video comparing the old and new versions of this universal weapon skin on Submachine Guns was uploaded to Reddit Thursday, and in the comments Emslie once again talked to players about impending plans — including a "very special" weapon skin to be added "when it's [sic] ready."

The comparison video, which was posted by user A_Russian_Tazer in the r/modernwarfare subreddit, shows how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's new Platinum camo has a flat, constant spread of light across each weapon rather than directing the glare in one spot. Some Redditors like qwertyuhot say the new version "is way better, especially on snipers," while others like JohnBoy200 say the skin "looks like brushed stainless steel" and prefer the original.

Modern Warfare's Art Director expressed in the comments that regardless of any one person's subjective thoughts on the updates, "Weapons team has been putting max effort into the unlockable camo skins to get you guys to a happy place." That effort is especially clear through new skins added when Season 2 launched, and Emslie (who goes by artpeasant on Reddit) adds that extra attention was given to "some of the shinier weapons" and to the lobby road.

As far as the new special skin goes, Emslie was sparse on details outside of telling fans he will give them a heads up when it is almost ready, which isn't completely unfounded in a first-person shooter full of teases for new maps, operators, and more. He did, however, assure that the skin would be unlockable rather than purchasable and that it would not be replacing the Platinum camo "master skin."

Between the launch of Season 2 and leaks for a battle royale mode, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is currently abuzz with new content and hype for content yet-to-come. With all of that energy in the community, it's good to see the developers at Infinity Ward keeping up with players about what they are working on through social media.

Clearly that extra effort has been paying off in other venues, as the esports Call of Duty League has garnered high viewership on YouTube Gaming. Time will tell whether that fervor will keep up when Emslie's special weapon skin is finally revealed.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
